Ode of the Dwarven Smithies

Odes and Expressions · by Scribe Meriumae Tansay

Drift it and sweat smelt, Fine iron, tested by the clear spring, Turn it and let smelt that fine iron.

Delve glittered bored and smelt, Fine ore, a fine belt, tested by heat, Twist it and set smelt that fine ore hilt, Fresh fire, fresh ale, fresh meat, Knelt by their anvil and set smelt that fine iron.

Weld metal, the glittered delve smokes, Hard gems and hard heat hiss in the darks, Drift it and caref'ly smelt, that heat they felt, One hammer, two tongs, four times forty sparks By their anvil they knelt, worked by sweet heat By their anvil they dwelt, turn it 'gain, Turn it and smelt that fine iron.

Drift it and cool smelt, Shined iron, tested by element, Wave it and deal it, proud and heartfelt.
