Revised Savant Introduction

The mighty Tower of the Savants. To some, it is a symbol of

mystery, and a testament to the power of mortality. To others it is an image of the forbidden; its magi dabble in the unnatural. But none can deny that the Tower is, most certainly, a storehouse of knowledge.

The history of the Tower is as mysterious as the things contained within. It is recorded that the spire arose from nothing, appearing one day on the horizon. Some speculate it was transferred through rift in time; that it willed itself to its location. Other more distrustful sources suspect more foul things involved. It is known, however, that the Tower remained steadfastly shut despite the many visitors, until it opened many years later.

It's appearance heralded the beginning of what is today called the Savants. These Magi dedicate themselves to the study of time, and to the flows of magic. They are guardians, scholars, and students of the eternal Vortex.

Through time and study, the Savants found themselves torn between two facets of learning. For those more inclined to introversion, to critical analysis and divination there was developed the path of the Mysterum. These particularly recluse magi immerse themselves in the planes and realities of the gods themselves, casting their consciousness across the very fabric of time for the knowledge they seek. These are the receptive minds of the Tower, from whence its great knowledge is put to a mouthpiece.

But even the sharpest mind needs a steady hand to bring its knowledge to life. These are the Temporum, composed of Magi who through action and application seek to unlock the mysteries of the universe. Their understanding of time and magic are focused on the world around them and those who might choose to oppose.

Naturally, there are those of little understanding who find fault with the Savant Tower and their sorcerers. To the uninitiated the flows of time are frightening and arcane. Historically, the battle-dedicated soldiers of Warmaster have made it their duty to confront and contend with the Savant, though they certainly aren't the Magi's only enemy.

As long as time and magic exist and knowledge sought within the lands of Aabahran, the Savant Tower will remain. Its door are perpetually opened to the few truly dedicated. It's recruiting arm, the clan of Hourglass, incessantly searches the realms for new minds to join the fray.

Perhaps that mind is you.
