Savant Cabal, Vol. 2
An Introduction to Cabals · by Herald Typhoeus Enceladus-Daeyi
The Savants of the tower have always been a divergent group. Every form of power has at one time or another come to call the tower home. Creatures, and beings from every race both known and unknown have at one time or another fulfilled the all important task as guardians of time. Wielding its power and knowledge to either dissuade ignorance or cleanse the land of those who will not see things their way. Those seeking the tower have not always employed the same methods. Thus two factions have developed, as the ages passed and time shifted as it will the great Temporums and all knowing Mysterum have slowly emerged. In recent centuries these have become the faces of the tower, two powerful yet different methods of influence sharing a common goal.
The Temporum
------------
Time flows constantly, a rapid carrying all with it. Nothing is resistant to its whims, and none are immune to its influence. The Temporum seek to utilize this truth to influence all around them. Reaching out they touch the very moments that their enemies dwell in twisting time against them. Some of the most feared incantations, the most dreaded horrific twists of time itself have emerged from this often over zealous sect. Feared as purifiers, those who seek to become enemies of the tower will eventually find themselves at the whims of these mighty and feared Savants. As their lives pass before their eyes, and their own body degenerates, they desperately cling to the reality that is no longer theirs to know. One quickly learns, as time twists that nothing escapes the Temporum's grasp as time itself becomes their enemy.
The Mysterum
------------
To change the universe one must first look within. All things pass through time, and through all places it does flow. The Mysterum turn the powers of time upon themselves. Mad mutterings of events intetwined can often lead to a perceived madness. These Savants, though often not as destructive as their counterparts, are rarely understood and their cryptic understanding of time itself can baffle even the most astute of students. Capable of warping their own reality they ride upon a tide of disruption, often times passing to the future pain and suffering, choosing the moments they will know now and saving that which they wish for the future. Sometimes vanishing only to reappear in the past, or to effortlessly traverse time and space itself.
Though both factions employ different methods, the goals remain intertwined. To protect the timestream by dispelling blind fear and hatred of its mysteries through teaching, and should that fail, destroying all who would, could, or might one day pose a threat to the stability of our reality as we know it.
