Destructive Rivalry, Part I

Since the beginning of mankind, there have been wars. Wars between friends. Wars between neighbors. Wars between family. The Savant versus Warmaster rivalry is no different. Since the dawn of time, these two factions have had a strong hatred for one another. Warriors have come and gone, mages as well. When a new recruit joins either side, there are no questions asked. It is already known what their duty is, the destruction of their enemy, being the main priority.

I recently had the opportunity to speak to a new recruit of the Tower. An Illithid, known as Cryche, the King of Devils. When asked why it chose to join the Savant Tower, it replied, "To seek knowledge".

I then asked the Illithid if it were given a specific role or task within the Tower, to which I was told, "Not at this stage. I have only just begun my path up, seeking knowledge. Knowledge of the lands, the arts of magiks, the arts of fighting." "And of course", it continues, "to claim back the lands that surround the Tower."

Oddly enough, this creature had no idea who the Tower's eldest mortal mage was, and had only met one other member, Mormous. Strange, indeed. With my next tome, a champion of the Warmaster Camp speaks...
