Born and raised in Val Miran, Sylf was a child of meager upbringing. There were several nights that he had to go to bed hungry, he was not raised with the creature comforts most common folk have. To help his mother, he worked as a magician's apprentice for a while. This job consisted of doing grunt work for the phony showman. He barely made enough to afford basic necessities.

One evening before a show, he went into the

magician's preparation tent and found him passed out - drunk as usual. While organizing the sundries for the evenings show, he stumbled upon a leather bound tome written in some sort of language he'd not seen before and could not understand. He took the tome and hid it, to be picked up after the show. Upon collecting the tome, he took it to the guildhall of Invokers to inquire.

Sylf met and spoke with a man named Kaine, this

fellow was able to instruct him on how to decipher the coded script in the tome. After several years of study and continued grunt work, Sylf was able to perform basic acts of wizardry and formulated a successful show of his own. This too lasted about two years, giving him a means to gather enough funds to provide his mother with a modest lifestyle. His talents were being noticed as his reputation grew, soon after he was recruited full time by Kaine.

He spent every moment he could with his nose in a

spellbook, constantly honing his craft. Years passed as he served his guild, reaching its pinnacle, and grew wealthy. After a while, he noticed a change in the climate of Aabahran and thought that he could use his gifts to improve the lives of others. He joined up with the Hopefuls of Val Miran, aspiring to become one of the Knights of the Crown. Through trial and tribulation, Sylf was given a chance to serve the Knights - and served them dutifully at his full capacity he did.

After years of devoted service, Sylf was promoted to

the position of Regent. As Regent he faced a great many challenges, from the Breech of the Castle to the passing of several comrades, but persevered through them all. He, devoting himself to fighting the Contamination and seeing that the Gor'gorak didn't destroy Val Miran, gained favor among his people. His deeds and loyalty to Val Miran revealed him a worthy monarch as he was Crowned King.

King Sylf has since retired from his duties as

Regent, having faithfully served for centuries, but continues to further the prosperity of his kingdom. He has sworn to rid Aabahran of the Blight and is working harder each day to see this goal realized. For Sylf, it is not enough to simply live. No, King Sylf Starkholm the Ruler of Val Miran, Roaring Inferno of Purity chooses to live for something - something more than himself. _______________________________________________
