Dance of a Thousand Stars
Heralds of Aabahran · by Scholar Eallyrl Ravatumal
Once, there was a young but curious elf whom spent her days about the Elven Kingdom always hunting for new experiences. She frolicked in the under the leadership of Princess Orelinde. Unbeknownst to many, Eallyrl shares a special relationship with most within the palace of the Elven Kingdom. She is one of the twin granddaughters of Nercuros' Handmaiden. The tragic accident suffered by the Oracle not only left her blinded, but as the surge effused her very being, it also infused the child she was pregnant with mystic power.
That power was not evident upon the child's birth, as no signs could be seen upon the child's flesh. As much as the Handmaiden despised it, on order by Princess Orelinde herself, her daughter was spirited away to a secret corner of palace to be watched and trained. One of the diviners who was present at the birth though issued a warning. It was then prophesied that this child of the Grey Moon would give birth to a child who's very essence would be tied to the moon itself.
This prophecy was hidden within the palace. None spoke of it or mentioned it to the handmaiden's daughter. In time, the daughter grew into a beautiful young lady. As often is the case, this drew the attention of many a suitor and it was not long before she was courted and wed under the New Moon. It was that very eve that the prophecy conspired to see itself fulfilled for that very night, the conception of not one child but two twin sister became reality.
Time passed and she gave birth to two beautiful daughters whom had the fairest of skin and dazzling beauty even in childhood. The two daughters were identical in every way, at some points fooling even their mother into not knowing which was which. They learned so quickly and seemed to excel in all they did up until they passed their into adulthood. This is where the twins differed. Eletha's focus was in the power of the arcane and the massive amount she could infuse to do her bidding. Eallyrl's focus became more intricate and subtle, favoring artistry over power in her studies. This caused no divide between the twin sisters as they happily shared in each other's successes.
That is, until the Grey moon's devotional rites passed that fateful day when both the twins performed them together. Eletha's focus for power transcended Eallyrl's intricate focus and for the first time in all their history the two sisters did not synchronize. As fate would have it that day, Eletha was engulfed in a surge of power that transfused the crystalline orb in the palace. Eallyrl leaped into action, coming to her sister's aid. This was in fact a mistake. Eletha had long since become proficient in handling massive amounts of energy. Along with her birthright granted by her grandmother, Eletha would have easily been able to handle such a surge. Eallyrl's interference though drew Eletha's attention and for the briefest moment she feared for her sister's life. In that moment, Eletha made the decision and opened herself as a conduit to the surge of power attempting to absorb its totality and save her sister.
Unbeknownst to Eletha, Eallyrl had inherited the birthright as well and would have survived that fateful blast. But, as Eletha's choice had been made, she too joined with the crystalline orb and became crystal herself. As Eallyrl reached her sister, whom was already pure crystal, she began channeling her own intricate magics into her sister's form. An explosion of light rocked the ceremonial platform and when the dust had settled, only one form stood upon it's surface. The form was neither the Eallyrl or Eletha, but a crystalline image of both sisters with an afterimage projected behind her.
It was one single event that ended Eallyrl's sabbatical from people. Though she had journeyed with a young elf named Raecel and come to know the enigmatic halfling Latner, it was her chance meeting with a Master bard that fateful evening in Miruvhor that would change her course forever. It was there that her she found her path in teaching the Heroes of Tomorrow. It was there that she determined no longer would she remain alone always. As the bard comprised his words with eloquent care, so too Eallyrl's lent her dance to the song and has become she whom dances about the lands.
