Aabahran

Gold and You

A Guide for New Travelers · by Scholar Thyrius

So you've found yourself in a bit of a pinch and need to make a bit of coin quickly. You've come to the right place, a glorious tale, a Merchant once I was, a collector of antiquities I still am. These bits of information isn't here to get you rich quick, but a means of gaining gold and keeping it for the future. Gold in many ways keeps Aabahran going and as a Druid it may seem odd that I would even need such, but it has its purpose in this life. So without further ado, lets dive right in.

1) A basic first step is looking for items that will fetch a high price. Such things can be as simple as a Titanium Bracer, or even the Gothic Plate. This means you'll find yourself searching the Ford for one and the Tainted Valley for the other. Both fetch roughly about 20k gold coins depending on where you go to sell them. I suggest the Sea Elven Cay and working your way eastward from there.

2) Search for resource rich areas. These are areas in which you'll find a lot of gold within them with as little effort put forth as possible. You can get it a lot easier at your peak for instance than at any lower position within your halls. I would point out first the Elemental Canyon, then branch out from there. Sometimes you have to get your hands dirty and you find yourself having to pick on shop keepers in places like the Ruins of Xymerria, the Hamlet, or again the Tainted Valley.

3) Resell Value. What I mean by this is to make yourself known as someone who can get what others cannot. If your path in life is to become a Merchant then this is far easier to do than if you were to only wish to dabble. If you do not wish to be a Merchant, I'd suggest catering to a specific clientel and that could mean those with similar mindsets as your own. That may just mean those who walk your same path while ignoring all others, or those within your own Faction. In this case you may only wish to sell cheaply and your main source of income would come from the first two options. If you wish to become a Merchant, you can name your price and your Customers will readily find you in time.

4) Seek a Merchant. Many Merchants of Aabahran have the ability to relieve you of your burdens of Rare and Unique objects. In this aspect they may be willing to purchase some of those items from you and sell them to someone who has more use for them. In this regard you do not need to be a Merchant yourself, nor would you need to worry about just holding onto it.

5) Take out a loan. This is the worst of all options in my humble opinion. True you can gain a lot quickly through it, but due to having to pay interest if you wish to remain poor and broke, this is the option for you. You'll be stuck paying 25% on top of it, and if you do not repay it in a timely manner, you'll find yourself facing some of the more unsavory of Aabahran when you default upon the loan and the Family is breathing down your neck.

These are all very basic guidelines and you can gain gold in many other ways, but these are simple tactics to deploy if you're needing it quickly and don't feel like grinding for years picking through the corpses of the goblins and imps in Elium or the Dryads and Nymphs of Everwild. Use these tips as you see fit.
