Packing for adventure

A Guide for New Travelers · by Herald Cass

A prepared adventurer is an adventurer with a future. Those who fail to do so, risk constant setbacks and an early grave. In this tome, we will teach the fundamentals of what to carry on your adventures, to ease your fun. You can ignore the items that your guild teaches as a spell.

1) A permanent light. The easiest to find is the magical sparkler from the hamlet. At L15 you can either kill the overweight halfling or purchase it from the dwarven tradesman. The initial Lanterns will run out, so watch out.

2) Food. The best food source is milk, because it never spoils, unlike other food. You can purchase barrels of it from the Craft Store in Ralardia. An alternative are the smaller milk bottles from the Farmers market in OfcOl.

3) Water. A large barrel of it can be found in the cabin outside the west gate of Val Miran. Avoid the small water containers bought from the cities. At L30 you should get a mote water tides from the Elder Vaporist, in the Elemental Canyon, which will grant you the create spring spell.

4) Enchanted sacks. You can purchase from the Elven City, a backpack that is enchanted to remove 90% of the weight inside it and can carry 100 items. In Everwild, the is a bear that sells a 100% no weight quiver for 50 items. Buy multiples, and name them. Check HELP ASSIGN.

5) Detect invisibility. Anyone can collect raspberry pills from the bush in the Elemental Canyon, at L20 blue pills from Marak and at L40 multicolored pills from the Bhodann's Dark Faith Alchemy Shoppe in the Duergar City. At your pinnacle you should have about 40 pills in a bag.

6) Sanctuary. Always carry at least 3 or more uses of it, as sanctuary will reduce the damage you take in combat. You can find 2 vials in Blackwatch, one by the goblin north of Miruvhor and another two south, in Kashangal, by the Gatekeeper and inside the altar. At L40 you can buy a better potion in Blackwatch. The vials can be turned into pills at the Alchemist's Shop in Miruvhor. Herbs can be found at the Dead Sea Topical Island, or inside Torilar tree house footlocker, in Elium Forest north of Val Miran. At L50 you will want to defeat the undead wight in the Arena in Maelbrim, to earn a glimmering stave with 15 charges of L50 sanctuary that anyone can use.

7) A mount. Always have a mount as it allows you to travel further and recover faster. If your mount duration is bellow 50 hours, refresh it. Stables can be found in most cities.

8) Protection. IF you aren't neutral, protection will reduce damage from the opposing alignment. A gremlin in the Elemental Canyon, carries a pill named a tablet of hardened acid. Aruncus in the Elderwood carries a scroll. The potion magenta from the holy draconian in the Dragon Tower will protect you from evil and the tribal potion in Kashangal from good.

9) Flight. Flight protects you from combat trips and allows you to travel further. Pills can be purchased in the Hamlet, scrolls in any of the main cities, a Stave of Dragonkin in Miruvhor and there is a wand of floating held by the priest near the Hero from Volcano. The Dried Purple Seaweed, an herb, can also be acquired in Miruvhor.

10) Word of Recall. The ability to return to your temple is paramount in an emergency. Buy several such potions in any city and place them inside your packs. A stave of recall that allows you to return your whole group is sold in Miruvhor.

11) Cure blindness. At lower levels you can get red potions if you pass door inside the Flying Citadel and search the statues. At your pinnacle, only use gyvel potions from Aruncus. Always have 4 in your inventory.

12) Poison. Being poisoned will prevent rogues from putting you to sleep. Purchase herbal brews from Strick at the Mage Tavern in the High Tower of Magic. Halfling and Dwarves should purchase a water pack from the flying citadel and ask a thief to envenom it. You should STASH a few.
