Trade Secrets: Druid Pt I
Professions · by Herald Thyrius
First and foremost I'm not -the- best at my own craft. I have often rebelled against Her and felt the sting of Her hand far too often and reliably been hurt drastically because of such. Once even having had the very life essence drained from me and by a miracle alone I was granted another chance at life. I am not the first nor the last to be capable of taking down the beast known as the Gor'gorak, a beast once prized by that of Nature itself. It does not qualify me as the greatest of all time, nor does it mean my years spent as a Merchant and then a Herald that I am the worst. This is meant to loosely help you understand that which is our craft could better help you in combat itself. Whether that combat is meant to harm others or merely survive is up to you to decide:
1) Entangle is an underutilized tool of the trade that I've noticed from other Druids. This will help you drastically when fighting others who like to bash or bodyslam you. It drastically reduces their success in landing either successfully and that includes the Gor'gorak. On the flip side I have never seen it really help me against Vlad the Impaler as he is just a master performer thrusting his long pole into things and such is unfortunate.
2) Foliage is a grand thing to have as a Druid. Without it we would often find ourselves yearning beyond our own abilities at being able to maintain our health and lives. Different terrain will affect how long the foliage you're capable of growing actually holds onto it. For the Pit for instance I'd highly suggest once you get passed the Phum and the rest to call upon it right before running in on Tub. This way you can safely ask for the blessings of different protective shields rather than worrying about the shield of green to stave off such yearnings.
3) Druid Staffs are often overlooked. If you're hurting for a good weapon and don't know what to use, this is often a must have. It often lasts more than a couple days, makes you healthier, more accurate, able to resist the wearing down of spells, boosts your mind, and protects you with better armor. The best thing is it can't be removed from your hands except by rare circumstance and can't be set ablaze.
4) Fasting is another interesting thing to learn. If you prefer to remain hidden from sight for hours, days, weeks, or months, this is a must to learn. You can stave off hunger and thirst for long periods of time and if you wish to trek deep into the depths of Aabahran and don't feel like creating your own food or drink you can do so. You'll also be able to remain camouflaged so it's ideal if you're hoping to catch enemies unaware.
