A Druids Guide to Brewing: Defense
Professions · by Academician Thyrius
There are a great deal of herbs out there that all can do a variety of things to the user or abuser. Druids can tap into ancient knowledge and learn to pick them apart to create further use of them though, and it can be quite tedious trying to figure out which ones are the best or which is most interesting. As of today, on the Sixday the 16th of Nature 2361 PC, this is the knowledge we have gained thus far and it is nearly free of charge depending on if you have purchased a copy of these works or not.
The necessities at this point I will begin with healing as it is an essential tool for survival.
Spotted Mushrooms can be used to brew and create a potion that will allow you to heal your wounds at a greater rate than that of a Cleric. The only person faster would be a Healer or myself as I could be the next Apex Predator if provoked, but that's not here nor there. You can find these mushrooms in Elium north of Val Miran.
Lets say you find yourself poisoned though and you cannot call upon Gaia's Blessings to restore yourself. You will want to start with Cirsium Japonicum Herb as it is the most effective. If you wish to find something less effective though, the Blue Tap Wort will do the same, but at a far lesser potency. The first you will find in the Blissful Falls, the second within the Elven Kingdom.
There are many who say the better you're armored against those they fight. Considering that many could easily just grab a Golden Flower from the E'Gal, there are some herbs that can be brewed if you have them on hand too. Magenta Leaves can be brewed into a potion of stone skin while the Needler Stalk and Neon Leaves can be brewed into a potion to harden your very flesh. Quite handy in a pinch, and both are the same strength. Within the basement of a home in Val Miran there is some blue colored leaves that can be brewed into a potion of shield almost as strong as any at their peak.
There are three things that when brewed will also change your own height. Being a Bear myself, I can grow quite large with such potions once brewed, but you'll look for the Black Leaves off on an island in the middle of the Dead Sea, a bowl of herbs in the forest of Elium, and some Psychedelic Fungus that you can find in the Underdark.
This is only a small fraction of what can be done with enough patience, and furthermore, there are others out there that can do more. I may detail those in a later scroll so others can experiment at a later date.
