Paladins and Haggle

As you know Paladins and Monks do not have haggle.

Paladins pay full price for everything.

Which I think is wrong, because if DK's can get things for free by extortion, Paladins should get thing for free from piety.

So an Idea is tho have Heroism/Virtous light affect a chance to the shop keeper give the item for free to the Paladin.

That would be awesome, I have always thought something like this too.

Buy potion

Shopkeeper says, "Take this for free for your good deeds!

Shopkeeper bows in awe as approach. Take this @name, our savior. May the gods shine on you.

I like this!

I like the idea for Val Miran. Wouldn't make as much sense in placed like Xymerria though

And Miruhvor

I don't like the idea. Paladins are humble and charitable. I believe they'd pay full price just to be helpful to those mom and pop stores.

Paladins Request their armor. They pray for food, drinks, and their mounts. Your mad then just because they do not get a discount on buffs? I can see the Idea as plausable, but since the paladin never pays for anything really, his bank account is ussually full. That leaves only one reason for the discount, greed. Not a paladins greatest attribute.

Have to agree with Croyvern... I just don't see why it even matters. I've never had any concerns with my paladins when it came to money... about the only thing it got spent on was missile immunity scrolls and the occasional recall potion/stave.

If your argument is that DKs have extortion, so paladins need something similar... should we be applying this across the board on all their skills/spells? DKs and paladins are hugely different in terms of what abilities they have - why focus on this one?

No, the reason is that Paladins do not have haggle. And that if any class should receive support from NPC it's Paladins.

This is great for RP if you are playing a Paladin. It makes you feel like in character.

The same way I feel when I extort something from a Shop with a DK.

Again, though... it's not like paladins have to buy stuff all that often. Whenever I did it tended to be very expensive items, which you shouldn't be getting for free anyways.

It's just something I see as entirely unnecessary. Paladins don't need free stuff... and as was pointed out, only certain NPCs would want to help a paladin, not all of them.

I'm a Paladin .. not a saint! 2k is more than enough for that stupid scroll... good citizen!
