"Lowbie" Hour

Just reading complaining about the difficulty in finding a group and I had a bit of a random idea:

What if each week every day from time A to time B was exp "happy hour" and all exp was 1.5x or doubled for that time? It could be as short as an hour or two, but would motivate people to log on their lowbie alts (or take a break from training each day) to grab some levels

Based on what I've seen since I've been back, it seems like there's a general population at 50 on at all times and cyclically the "always on" people will roll up some new chars and for a week there's plenty of grouping to go around. Once that batch hits the higher lvls though, all lowbies are back to square 1 and lost in the world.

One of the most intimidating things for newbies is logging on to see everyone at max level and decked. You don't know what's going on to begin with, and it seems like everyone is "already there" so no one is going to help. This isn't the TRUTH, but its the perception.

Love to hear everyone's thoughts on this, but I do think it would be a fun way to kick start some lowbie alts.

I don't agree. Certain people in certain timezones (I guess we all know which timezone I am talking about, yes the one opposite to mine) will be favoured if this happens.

That being said I see no problem with finding hunting groups.

I didn't explain it well, rereading my own writing, but my thought was that the time period would change each week at the IMPs discretion. I've seen a number of comments about people with limited playing time having trouble ranking because they can't find groups. The thought, then, is to incentivize people logging on at a certain time to group up and get some lowbie ranking/playing done.

Perhaps instead of an hour, which would not aid everyone world wide, it should be an all day thing once a week. We could observe the individual days of the week to figure out which particular day is likely to be the hardest to rank, meaning the least number of players. I.e. 2XTuesdays or something like that. It would do two things, aid players on those days when there are extremely few players on, and promote play on the slowest day of the week. If we observe and update it constantly it just might increase the overall play throughout the week in time. Who knows, maybe I am just a dreamer.

I like Croyvern's idea more.

I also like that idea. I'm not sure it helps us "focus" the time as much, but it does help everyone out each week if they can log on that day rather than people who are limited on time.

We had a similar idea before. Extra XP for 24h in the weekend.

Focusing on a certain hour can create more problems than it can solve sadly...

Ok , so I fell back into the fray and rolled a char tonight for the first time this year, lol. I like the idea of a regularly scheduled double exp day. I would add one thing though. I would personally like to see it during the week. Here is why: most of us older folks with kids and families tend to have at least SOME time each weekday to unwind before we head to bed or whatnot. During the weekends we have tons of family duties and activities planned, whether birthday parties/weddings/games/practices/etc. At least if it were during the week we could play for an hour or two after the kiddies go to bed and all the household duties for a weekday are complete.

Yeah, its nice mine are grown and want little to do with me or my time as long as they have my money. But I feel for you younger parents and remember the struggles I faced. All the great RP things happening on weekends or worse, holiday weekends.

That's why you shouldn't get married till you're like 40

But I don't mind it either way, as long as the old farts are happy

You try coordinating three working people from the US, Europe, and Asia for an RP event....

Someone will be playing at 4 AM....so they are always going to be on a weekend.
