PRAY
Syntax: pray
A skill only used by priests. It is similar to meditation, in that whilest you pray,
you regenerate mana faster. While praying however, you cannot see anything that
goes on around you due to your devotion to your God.
I dig it. Could be awesome for RP at the very least.
help pray
PRAY YELL
Syntax: pray
Syntax: yell
PRAY sends a message to the gods. However, use caution. The Gods are
not to be trifled with, and can often be very unhappy if pointlessly
disturbed.
YELL sends a message to all those awake within your area.
Type a channel name by itself to turn it off.

Wow, that was constructive. Give yourself a round of applause.
I don't get it, such command already exists?
Okay, change the command input then, the idea stays the same.
Devotion
Syntax: Devotion
A basic skill for most communers, devotion allows a priest to enter into intense prayers intended to rejuvinate the spirit and mind. While the outside world is all but lost to a priest entranced by such prayers, their mind and soul are submerged within their faith resulting in exponential recovery of the mind.
I could go for it. IF;
A) Regeneration of health is slowed by the same percentage as the boost granted to mana. Should not gimp the priest he can "cure".
Entering into the Devotion lags the priest. You WILL not enter into devotion to your god at the end of every hour just for the bonus.
C) What ullquiora says below, is adjusted.
Overall, nice Idea.
I object on the grounds that a Qclass has something to the same but lesser effect. I don't see mundane clerics getting something nicer than a Qclass.
Why not amp up the effects of meditation for priests? I'm really not to fussed, it sounds cool and all but if casters get anymore regen abilities aside meditation and trance, I'm going roll one.
I'm pretty sure the amount they get back already is quite fine/balanced.
Thought that was called trance.
Thought that was called trance.
While I agree, trance is rather generic, bland if you will. I just thought I smelled something savory cooking.
I'm not disagreeing with the premise. But honestly it sounds exactly like trance.

Actually yeah, just the same as trance, but you have to pray. It made sense at the time, I saw a cleric and thought about it. I personally think it could be an awesome RP tool as well.
So this is supposed to be something like blademasters/monks meditation?
On a side note, some clerics already regain like 200 mana per hour. Double that when slowed... you really need this for an RP tool or for PK purposes? We already have the pray you need for RP...
Clerics/healers don't need any more mana regen - doing so would make them pretty much unkillable for anybody other than airthrashing monks
Speaking of monks - isn't this their meditation skill repackaged? They have it as monks don't regen mana as usual.
Do you want clerics to only regen mana while being devoted?
Lytholm.

Lytholm.
I would not be afraid to play a cleric who had to sit in devotion for a few hours a day to gain his mana. Most muds are loosely based on D&D and in it ALL priests have a "required" devotion time to pray for their spells. Some religions pray at night, some at sun up, ect. While I agree with anyone who says "there is nothing wrong with clerics/healers as they are" because they are balanced, they are also quite bland. Trance is a skill many classes have, not just priests. My take on the point of this post was that "devotion" could be a useful RP tool. So I ran with it, and guess what? The more I consider it, the more I like the Idea of every priest having to spend a few hours a day in devotion to their gods. A Mage rests to replenish his mana, and thus his spells, a priest is Suposed to Pray for his spells. Seems the only people who should really stand against this are the ones who do not wish to properly RP a priest. So Lytholm, Yes, yes I do.
Maybe make that a selectable skill at creation/some other rank?
You regen ALOT faster, but it's just like meditate and you never regain mana without being devoted.
