I was thinking about it last night, and came up with a couple thoughts.
Assassinate:
Make it damn near impossible to miss with a full study.
Balance: Make study time longer.
I was trying to think of ways to make this balance out well, and it took me a while, considering how powerful assassinate really is.
Ninjas are supposed to be assassins, masters of the blade, but they aren't samurai. IMO a ninja should be able to kill anyone, without a godset because of the time and energy it takes to get a study.
Dunno how people are gonna feel about this but I say you take some of the melee vitality from ninjas, make assassinate more likely to succeed, and add encumberance to balance.
Since when does anyone remember a ninja running around in platemail? Can't imagine it's too easy to jump out of the shadows with 80lbs of chainmail on..
(Sorry this is so scattered, you get the point though)
This is absurd.
Not melee kill. I mean assassinate kill. It's not really all that easy to get a full study against today's players.
Gotta say, I appreciate such constructive conversation though. [rolls eyes]

I am not arguing constructively because there simply is no point, since what you are saying is just not true. It takes exactly 5 ticks to get a full study (excluding the meditating process). Have you really earned the kill by running around your victim for a tick, going away to meditate, repeat 5 times?
I don't think so.
In the past this was enough to get you a kill even against an opponent who is decked and awake. I am glad to hear it has been changed.
EDIT Nevermind, this obviously isn't going anywhere good.
Sometimes it takes me hours to kill someone with a cleric and you want it easy cause you spend 5 minutes ?
Five ticks alone, unless you are an incredibly (and I do mean incredibly) lucky falcon eye ninja, will not get you a full study.
That being said, despite my personal desire for a return to the 1.0 status of ninjas as dead in melee but great assassins, I do enjoy the versatility ninjas have now in choosing what path they wish to take, and so I'm fairly uncertain on this issue.

five glances + meditation time.
Under the right circumstances, which will NOT be discussed here in depth, a full study leads to an almost sure kill now already.
You've actually killed someone with your clerics, Mya?
Yes, they normally succumb to thirst/hunger.... in their chair.
Hold on. This needs to be locked while I digest what mya said.
And this was never going in any positive direction.
