all weapons, armor, items and such have a level ranking when you id them right. What if rare eq, allready specific to alignment, were further limited in respect to said items specific rank i.e.(level 30 weapon/item could only be touched by someone rank 30 of higher). this would prevent high level eq from ever reaching lowbie hands, thus prevent low level charcters from ever being able to horde things meant for higher ranks.
just a thought i've been pondering over any thoughts?
I solve those issues with the help of my friendly local headhunter. Its got merit...but there are items that are greater than level 50 I believe...how do you do that dance?
Yep, there are items which are higher than level 50.
Although, I like the idea.

I'm aware
the way i see it though is that at 50 you could hold any level item
what about that level 43 that gets jumped by a 50 and puts the beatdown on him? I just think it is way too restrictive. Are you going to say that all the shinies the foolish 50 collected shouldn't be available to the victorious level 43?
If people didn't give equipment to low level characters as it says specifically in divine mandates not to, this would rarely be a problem.
Many Muds offer Level based EQ. Not a fan, can you imagine not being able to wear camel hide until your level 9? I always thought it would be best to impair those who wear eq that out ranks them, minor -hp/-mana/-move/-luck for each piece of armor or weapon you wear that out ranks you. Since your peers will likely not be so blessed it inspires balance.
The idea has merits, but I too am against the idea of level-restrictions on equipment.
A thought on the other side of the argument is this. Set the cap at 8 levels above your current level. This would give you access to your max PK level in terms of items. At level 45 you could remove that check for equipment allowing you to use any item. (I say 45 because I figure most people can reasonably solo most areas in the game at that rank).
And yet I can think of plenty of level 40+ eq that 3 30s in a group can get without too much trouble, and quite a bit of level 50 eq that 3 really determined 30s can get if they're willing to sink the effort in. Should they be denied it?
