The rp behind it is you need to ****ing talk quickly across it. It is just a trade off of OOC to IC. It is something that HAS to happen.
What is the RP reason that level 10 chars are commenting on your full suit of gear from gear and deso? There is NO way they went. Yet they still know who adeptus is. Some things you cannot avoid.
Okay, I think the Ignore command is very much needed...
One, training
Two, requesting
Three, doing "things" that need your full attention, be it rp unfolding in the room with you or qclass stuff.
Last...but surely not least...Due to those people that run a fine line between what is acceptable and not...and quite frankly you don't want to deal with it...not too long ago...someone "RPing" (if you can call it that) being possessed by demons not only made threats toward my char/did emotes that assualted my char (all lacking logic and done to someone out of their pk range) when I left...they decided they would tell me they were going to molest and kill my char (worded just so where you knew their point but they did not say anything unappropriate for pg13)
Now, that I have come to the end of this rant...RP is one thing...harassment is another, I know...but if someone doesn't want to deal with another persons "RP" they shouldn't have to...

Unless you're going to ignore everyone on the who list your first three reasons don't make sense. You could simply use quiet in those cases.
As far as the RP goes, I don't really see anything wrong with that. Aabahran is a world full of Demons, Vampires, Undead and other nasty things. Do we really want evils who don't do anything evil, who don't make threats that seem so vile they give us a shiver? It sounds like the player knew the rules, and RPed something he thought was interresting within the restrictions of them. What's wrong with that?
Edit: As far as good armor like Adeptus goes, yeah you see level 10's who see it and compliment. Maybe they've read about him? But on the other end of that arguement I've NEVER besides a player new to 50 seen anyone have their character act like they were seeing it for the first time.
The same thing happens in real life, I'm not a ninja but I've heard rumors about what they could do, I'm not a monk but I've heard of stances, I'm not a swordsman but I know what a full-tang (sp?) sword is and why it's made so. The guilds are in the cities and accept anyone who wants to join. Of course their secrets would leak out.

I didn't say anything was technically wrong...other wise an Imm would have been involved...like I state at the bottom of my "rant" if a person doesn't want to deal with someones "rp" they shouldn't have to...especially not through tells...

Here, look at it from the other side of the fence. You take the time to come up with a backstory, family, and description for a character. You RP them well to this and are proud of yourself. But when you try to interract with others... because they don't want to deal with you the RP is steam rolled by a huge ignore freight train.
This is a RP and PK mud, there isn't any requirement to do both really. You can make a character never say one word untill con death and be fine. I just feel that ignoring is used too quickly out of rage towards a person. People use it after they RP they're big and bad and then die because they think other people will trash talk or they don't want to hear "I'm sorry, did I bump into you?"
It seems like this is mixed, so here's an idea: Have Ignore be a request. Write the reasons why you feel you shouldn't have to listen to the person and let an IMM be the judge. What do you all think?

Every char is suppose to have all the requirements you listed...so, if someone doesn't want to be insulted by another person that they have walked away from...even though it is the other persons RP to rape and pillage all of Aabahran...then, I don't see any reason why you have to put up with it...we are all here to have fun...if you are going to play a char that makes threats...there are consequences...
Even in RL...if someone calls you from another state and makes threats...you either yell back at them...or hang up! Even though they "in their minds" might have a good reason...you don't have to hear it...
As for Ignore being a request...1, Do the Imm's really need to be bothered MORE? 2, What will that create, people signing off cause their resident harasser is on ready to spam them with tells about how they are going to make them their sex slave till their request for ignore comes through? Come on... like Eshaine mentioned...if someone is commenting to you, then ignoring you, on and on...that is abuse and wrong...but if you are ranting at someone...they have the "RIGHT" to not listen if they don't want to...
Hmm, ok I'll give you that. Bad idea on my part. And yes every char is supposed to have it, but the only real requirement is a description. I was new to RP when I came here and didn't actually make a backstory or family history for a character until my 5th one.

LOL, I was lucky enough not to have any interaction with him...other than some random happenstance that he might have pk'd/tried to pk one of my char's...but, from what I have gathered from the forums, he really knew how to lose friends...and fast...

I missed whatever happened with him. Before I left for Iraq Manboobs was fine with the playerbase, I get out of the military and get back on and he's on the top ten most wanted list.
I don't bother with the ignore command, if someone is raging or whatever and sending me tells I'll just type sp and my huge spell list usually blocks out what ever they were saying in a heartbeat.
