Maybe this has already been brought up. By why not have a way that IMMs can check pending descriptions when the characters are not online? I've been on for 5-6 hours the last 2 days and already 6 today. Just sitting in town on my lvl 15 eatting muffins and resending my prayer. While I accept that IMMs do have a life, it restricts characters when they have to sit for days because the work of the player and IMM clash. If it was just me I wouldn't complain, but since I've made this character all I've heard on the newbie chat has been people complaining... even people who are playing their first character.
So why not? A command that shows all completed non-approved descriptions. The IMM reads it, if it's good enough approve it. If it's not write a note stating why. And if the character does deserve a gift simply have some type of marker so the next time an IMM is on with them they'll deliver one.
And yes I realize this'll take away RP between IMMs and characters, but not much. I've only had an IMM appear to check it a handful of times.
I still think heralds should be able to approve descriptions, definately NOT give gifts, but they should be able to approve descs, and if they think it is a stellar desc, that comes with good roleplay, then maybe write a note that the desc should be reviewed by imms for possible gifting.
Personally I love/hate getting a dragon. For one they are usually so friggin sweet that you HAVE to wear them. Sometimes at pinn though you get decked and you want to wear something else, but I always feel obligated to wear my dragon. Always.
You can already send a note to Immortal asking for a desc check as it is now. However we will probably soon induct a command that makes this faster and the possibility of your desc check note being overlooked less.
I would also like to make a motion to bump it to lvl 30. It can take less than an hour to get to lvl 15 and then its go play xbox time till you get approved or train on scarecrows or whathave you.
I dunno, I rolled a character last night, got to 15. Got a restring and desc check today. So maybe you might want to try a different play time?
I'm central time and play during day hours, for about 6-7 hours a day Mon-Thurs. Like I said, I wouldn't have submitted this idea if it was just me. From this char's creation I've listened to two new players complain that they couldn't get approved after I helped them write descriptions. Two friends on msn stating they'd been waiting 3 days on one, 4 for the other. And three others in the newbie channel complaining. I figured 8 in such a short time was enough to come up with an idea.
I'd like something to happen. I don't want to sound like a dick, but I hear a lot of, "Well, soon you'll see..." I'm here for the long haul, but I've seen a lot of long time vets post goodbye threads in pretty awful, long, and damning ways that explain just how they feel... only to be responded with something akin to, "Well, soon we'll have this, you should have just waited." This Desc thing has been a problem for a lot of people- and my only problem with sending a note the imms about getting it checked is when they approve my desc I lose my charmies. Minor gripe, but at level 15 when you've got a Stone Golem and a Tiger it's kind of expensive to re-up.
How anyone that has been here for more than a year doesn't know about the note to imm to get the app check is beyond me, but maybe a "Congrats on 15, you can't rank further until your desc is checked" message getting a new line added to it, in another colour, maybe bright red or pink, that reads, "If no immortal is on, you can send a note to the immortals (help note) asking for your description to be checked." Or, if it isn't already, adding a line to the help file in Help Description explaining the note to Imm process?

Am I the only one who never seems to have trouble getting his desc approved?
Nope, I find it quite easy to get my desc checked (I am Euro), although I must admit that it might seem a bit hard a someone who is new.
I occasionally have a problem the first day I'm logged in. But, I've never waited more than 20ish hours for a desc approval after a note. I do see a lot of people having issues with the wait, though. I can understand their problems, but I don't have the same.

The most I ever waited was 2 days after sending in a note after rolling my char. That was like a one time thing though. I typically roll a char/write my desc out at the same time. Desc is done by no later than lvl 5 and I pray as I rank to 15.
If stil not approved by then I write the note and usually wait til the next day to log in and it has always been done. Good job Imms, IMO.
I have noticed that it may not be possible getting a dragon if an imms checks your desc while you're not online. Is this true?

I have logged on with an xp bonus, desc checked, and a dragon in my inventory.
Thanks. That answers my question.
