Dream realm

maybe, there could be a room in which the sleep command transferred you to a dream realm, like in a temple or something. At any point while in the dream realm, the wake command would have you "snap back to reality". I don't know what you would do there, it could be a way to pass time at pinn, go in and practice tactics against dream versions of epic mobs with your group, without any real risk, but also without any real award, other than experience (of the player, not the char). It would be sort of a training room, and (if possible) it would be instanced, and there'd have to be some sort of system for choosing where you wished to go/who you wished to fight, and maybe some rating of difficulty (so you could feel god-like while you beat epic bosses alone)

of course, this is low/nonexistent priority, so if it were to be implemented, it'd be after important things and such. i don't play much, as my life is sorta falling apart around me, and i am far more concerned about other things, (i just can't get enough of the forum though.

I like it. Reminds me of a memorable scene in ultima 7. Not that its the same idea, just that dream worlds are always cool and speak to a part of the human condition that is somewhat under the surface of things.

What happens to your body while you are in that room (area)?

I am not sure what I think about the idea... I am just a bit sceptic.

you'd just be just asleep, but it'd be a no pk room, and you'd wake up in the room if you died in the dream realm, and you'd still have your stuff

Hrm. I dunno, a no pk room doesn't sound like FL to me. But, if it were, perhaps, a room where you could get offed, it would be pretty neat. If you could die if you where there? Make a dream realm with objects that, once you complete a quest or thirty in the dream land you get to take objects from it back. Would probably be all Psi objects, but, still... I've had ideas like this for a long time...actually since watching WC play Wizardry 8.

I was always under the impression that when you die in your sleep your not going to wake up!

You should be able to die if you are in the dream realm or astrally projecting. Your body will be limp as it is so if anyone walks in on you, you are dead. It would be cool to see other people in the dream realm as well. There could even be a subclass of necromancer, "Dream stalker" aka Boogie man that can take you away if you go to the dream world.

I think it could be a cool concept to add a dreamworld, a means to carry information and meet up in another realm, but your body would be left to whatever fate might befall, thus, you would not wish to be in the dream world for too long. Could be given to a "certain class" or offered to a Cabal. Of course the Dreamworld would just be a means to traffic information, maybe have some code for a random nightmare to cause you to wake, perhaps a way for other dreamers to spy on you and listen in on your secret conversations....shrugs....I know that there are forms of this idea....but not to this extent.

On top of this idea, how about something else... a "realm" where anything was possible? So, in this realm a DK could cast Hellstream or a Berserker with Sanc? It could be called "McRealm" and the entrance to it would be guarded by an Elderly man or woman in a Uniform of Red and Black, pushing a mop. Once you're in the realm, things will have strange properties. The Create Food spell will have a very low casting lag, maybe none at all, but as soon as you leave the place, you will get Dysentery.
