Beads

Be nice if monks beads had a timer on it, perhaps when the monk examines his beads it would tell him how many hours left on it.

Dont see why this should not be implemented, blademasters blood vow has a displayed timer, and all other classes spells and skills have displayed timers, that i can think of. Such an important thing to monks surely deserve this.

Major pain in the butt when said monk battles and suddenly beads break!

Major inconvenience, and not all players have zmud where they can set up variables and triggers and time when beads break to give automated warnings and what not or whatever.

My monks always carry an extra set of beads that I make about 20-24 hours later on them, so if it crumbles, or breaks doing NIFTY THING HERE, I just equip my spare, and finish whatever I'm doing and go make two more sets. shrug

yeah, just make a set a day after you make the first.

When the first crumbles, wear the spare and make a new set as soon as you can, and you can keep replacing/alternating.

i always had one, and often two beads in my inventory at all times. also, you definitely should set up a trigger that says "!!!! BEADS B E A D S B E A D S ! ! ! ! ! ! " whenever the text "Beads crumble" appears.

man, a monk sounds juicy to roll right now. i always hated their highly undependable lag techniques, but Behrens monk changes a while back, from what i hear, were pretty awesome. a shame they take so much insane training or i'd get into one right now.

ED:

i also set the same trigger for "Something crumbles into dust" for when i was blind and fighting, or blind in general.

whereas you can always carry around spares, a bead timer is a good idea nonetheless.

This is a little unrelated, but I've never known for sure. Can you hear clan chat while you're meditating? I'm pretty sure I hear it while sleeping, but not meditating.

Monks take less training than blademasters, by far. And are less eq dependent. Just my 2 copper.

Blademasters really don't need to train anything at all. I never trained mine, and skills rose with use just fine without it ever being a major annoyance.

As for eq, a set of oak/mithril and a decent polearm was all I ever needed to fight against all but very decked people.

You can hear it while sleeping, NOT while meditating. I tested this extensively on my last monk.

I love untrained blademasters you see them missing all the time with their skills and they can never hit any of the nsty crit spots.

Did just fine against your necros though.

Hell, Blademasters rape pet classes. I hate them.

you should be able to hear CC while meditating. not for RP, but for fairness in general to monks who need meditation to gain any real mana.

Yeah that's what I was thinking. I understand the RP of being in a deep trance, but isn't sleep also a deep trance? And you can talk in lots of ways while you're sleeping.

lots of ways? only CB and CC...

And group chat.

Regardless, no reason why you can talk while sleeping and not while meditating.

I have to agree with Anon on this one. Meditation requires conscious focus...like talking. Sleeping is more of putting your consciousness on pause while everything goes on. Talking while meditating is even generally accepted, hence mantras or other chants. I think Gtell, CB, and CC should be turned on for meditation and turned off for sleeping...since you can just call on the dogs if a thief/ninja/anything else really put you to sleep.

Sorry for taking so long to respond, some good thoughts out there.

Back to the point of beads timer, I still believe its a good idea, I have telnet so im screwed in regards to all the fancy things one might do.

All I am proposing is that a monk can examine his beads to give him an accurate time of when they will break, I do create an extra set of beads two days later when I can remember, but the damned meditation takes way too long to recover mana (sitting around meditation so often, not a healthy occupation), so its not really viable to make an extra set every day like someone suggested.

On the other good point someone mentioned; CC and GT especially should be implemented whilst meditating.

The amount of times someone has said, you there? oi wake up! in CC because I was meditating and couldnt hear them, is astounding.

I assume thats why one can CC and GT whilst sleeping (for practicality), therefore I see no real reason that one cannot do the same whilst meditating.

Thoughts?

pmote slaps NooB.

Dude, get gmud or something. Anything. I did Telnet for so long before I got something else and I know it's in your best interest in every situation. There's not much time! Seriously. Google gmud, first one. Download the folder... and use it. It's heaven compared to Telnet.

It doesn't matter if there is a timer or not. Always have at least 3 or 4 sets of beads on you. It's really funny to see a clever monk constantly choking out fools.
