Restringed races

Is there anyway we can get a way of telling the full name a restring's race? I don't always know what the abbreviation fully stands for (actually, I almost never can figure it out, but maybe I'm just dumb), especially on the more common ones like 'whatever-elf'. It would be nice to find this out so I could perhaps run a quick google search on the race and find some background information that would be helpful in trying to roleplay with them.

Now before someone says to just ask the character, maybe it is in that character's racial background that he be silent, not willing to divulge information, or any other number of reasons for not telling you his race, so there would need to be an alternate method.

Maybe add it to the bio command, or something.

I've played a few restrung races, and most people seem to ask only when the 5-character wholist description sounds cool. Like Khulk, the Bug-golem (Khulk Buncherbugs, Har har). I think his who-list was Swarm. Nobody knows what that means. It could be anything. So people would occasionally ask, and I'd get to say, "I dunno. I yam what I yam." or something to that effect. I may or may not have said that, it's been a while.

But thats just an observation. As for a solution, why not have the full race name be visible in the "bio" command?

Doesn't seem like it would hurt or unbalance anything, and I think players should still ask the restrung character what he/she/it is, or make some inviting comment about it. Even if the character takes offense or doesn't want to talk about it, the effort is there and the result is still active RP. I mean, I've always made a habit of introducing myself to others, even though their names are written all over the place. Same deal.

Definitely had this when I was restrung to a Shambler [shmbl]. I think that was the abbreviation, though I am not sure anymore. Needless to say, even if it was spelled out, it wasn't easy to describe...especially if anyone remembers actually talking to Raoh.

If only there was a command, where you could read someones description from afar, that would be wicked awesome, I bet that would even give me a hint as to the restring.

Wow aren't you smart?

Sometimes the case, but not always

Ah... If people cant figure out what you are/look like from your description... doesnt that COMPLETELY make the idea of having a description null and void?

Also assumes people read descriptions. Not a safe assumption, hehe.

Could always remove race from who list all together, after all, your description should have it covered ;o).

Interesting idea, will certainly make reading descriptions important for finding out what vuln to use

As far as restrings go, I do read the description BEFORE I ask what they are.

Though, some people get OFF THE WALL race restrings. Shmbl. I read that desc and I was like.. WTF is that? Even after I was told what he was. I was like.. Wtf?

Lol.

Exactly! So it wouldn't hurt to just show the full race in the "bio" output. Then their description is right there to be read anyways.
