JOKERS cabal, and the clan of fools

I realize that I am telling off on myself posting this here, however, I truly would appreciate any input or advice. I have been a player here for, well forever, and it has come to my attention that sooner or later we all have to learn to murder, maim, or mutilate one another. But should this be the end? Should the sum total of our existances be measured by Pkill/Pdeath ratio? I would hope not. I have prided myself on existances bent on roll play over actual fighting skill. With this in mind I came up with a slightly unique idea for a clan/cabal. The Cabal we would call the Jokers, their clan would be the fools. The primary objective of such a cabal would be two fold. First and formost, they would roll play with other Jokers or fools, to keep the monotonous lives of town folk exciting. They will acomplish this through elaborate ruses meant to aggrivate, shame, or embarass those "noteworthy" individuals we see everyone looking up to. Second they would act as a balancing force within the lands, if any one cabal seems to be dominating the countryside with their armies, the Jokers would do what ever was within their power to harass and slow progress.

I believe this would be a great cabal for some of our less experienced players. It would help them to build roll play skills as well as battle skills. Ultimately preparing them for the somewhat lesser roll played and more violent battles the players will encounter in other cabals. I have actually put more thought into this than I probably should have. Consider this;

(Fool)

inductee, member, veteran, trusted, elder, leader

[JOKERS]

(inductee) gains flag, wands, staves, scrolls

(barker) gains immunity to exile from any town (no one exiles the circus)

(gossip) gains the ability to blend in with the crowd

(a non combat skill, very similar to vanish)

(columnist) gains ability to scribe notes to ALL

(journalist) gains the ability to scribe library books for Herald aproval

(rumor mill) gains the ability to scry on individuals

(allows rumormill to get stories about tight lipped folks)

I dont know about the skills but I really like the idea. There definitely should be newbie cabal to give the new players some stimulation to get to 50

I'm totally against it.

I'm totally against it.

That was a productive post.

I like the idea behind the cabal, but I think the skills and the name could be changed.

You've seen how little we actually care about your opinion in the paladins conversation.

Without being a little more insightful, you're just being a douche bag AND someone whose opinion no on wants/cares about.

This is true. I remember when Bali was the guy who nobody agreed with and who totally sucked at FL. Now, people sometimes agree with him. It's crazy how things change.

EDIT: So as not to totally be derailing the post... but isn't the above something a Herald bard could do just fine?

What, am I supposed to give some 19 page dissertation on everything I disagree on? Catch 22, you'll whine if I do, whine if I don't. Pick something to b!tch about and stick with it. Speaking of sticks, please remove any and all from your anus at your earliest convenience.

And I was under the impression I didn't give a damn whether or not you care about my opinion(s). Last I checked, this was a forum. SmarterChild defines a forum as "a public meeting place for open discussion," and "a medium of open discussion or voicing of ideas".

I could be wrong. I think this is a forum. It is, isn't it? I think it is. I might be wrong though. But I think it is.

Yeah, but who plays bards anyhow?

I like the idea a lot. Definitely brings about the type of roleplay I talked about in Calron's thread. We need more of the people who cannot put too much into an rp plot to get involved in minor small "village/city" life in the mud.

You guys need to chill.

I play bards.

I play bards.

Yeah, but your bards pk.

I play bards.

I've been itching to roll up a bard lately. Just because throw is so much fun.

On topic: I think this is more of an in-game thing you should try to start up. I know it's hard to get a lot of people involved, or to even hear about it-in game-but just keep on trucking.

In either case, I like it.

But he still sucks at FL... Some things never change..

The man has a good point.

All these angustrons running about.

Yeah, everyones opinion is their own. I don't see how one person speaking their mind saying they don't like it should get everyone wound up about it. He doesn't like it, good for him. If you do, share your input on the subject.

I think a newbie type of cabal would be a good idea but there would need to be a lot done behind it. If it's a cabal full of newbies they'd just get rolled on unless the cabal was somehow protected. Such as no standard to take, or just not able to take it. And perhapse that entourage so they can go out of pk range during their rp plots. In my opinion though, that's basically heralds. Somewhere you can be pretty much safe from wars for the most part, and you can sit around RPing. I think easy access to Heralds would give newbs a place safetly learn the ropes.

Maybe make it a subcabal of Herald, after lowering the entrance level?

I would love this cabal. It would be filled with my hordes of lowbies, and it might very well ensure that I never roll anything else but bards.

And before Bali, there was me. Although some things never change, I suppose.
