Not sure if this belonged here or newbie help...kind of a newbie question with a suggestion added at the end.
So if one chooses the Atheist religion (can we even call it a religion?), why do we still sacrifice items to "Creator" ?
Isn't the idea behind Atheism that there isn't a god, a creator, or anything of the such?
Perhaps a different noun would suit it better...
Chemical chance gives you one gold for your sacrifice.
Or instead of sacrificing, you just destroy it instead.
You destroy the object getting one gold worth of scrap.
Just because your character does not believes in gods, it does not means that there are not any. It is hard to say there are no gods, as someone brought you into the FL realm (to the mud school) and someone keeps reincarnating your soul.
When you sacrifice something to the gods, the one that listens is Creator the most powerful of them. Also the only one that appears to not mind helping those who hate the gods.
The question you should be asking is why if your character does not belives in gods, is he sacrificing items to them. 
ATHEISM
Gods... You have seen these 'Gods' running around like they own the joint.
Nothing more than you... Except maybe a tad bit stronger. There's is a
power that anyone can achieve. You've seen it before, you'll no doubt see
it again. It's just a matter of time. Some alchemical formula? Maybe once
you have perfected skill with every known weapon? Who knows? It is the
next stage of life. It just has to be attained.
With each passing year, every mortal get more and more powerful. And so it
is with the Gods. They're nothing more than everyone else. They just have
found the secrets, and moved on. Was not everyone a child once? And when
they were, did not your father seem immortal? Of course. You have just
grown up. In the cosmic scheme of things, you are still but a child, and to
get to the higher plateu, you just have to grow up again.
