requesting..

a visible "affect" in your affects list would be very nice imho. Just so you can see how long till your no longer a sitting duck.

An evil with 'detect magic' could decide exactly when to get maximum advantage from attacking you. As is, they may attack as soon as they find you just to be sure, so your hp/mana/moves aren't as low.

That would be neat, save for the fact no one plays goods.

Request has enough problems as is. Such as why is calming a lvl 50 when he requests an item of lvl 45 or lower necessary? Such as why you're calmed for 16-18 ticks when going for something higher, after you've just been drained for 6-8 ticks. It doesn't take an evil 26, or even 18, ticks to kill and fully rest after going for something of similar value.

You get calmed from requesting rare items, the duration is pretty constant, from what I could tell.

Maybe you could talk that high-lvl goodie into summoning the mob into a more out-of-the-way area, or maybe getting a buddy to stand guard?

They're not really questions. Just pointing out some of the absurdity.

Yes, it is a bit absurd to take 8 hours to request a level 15 item from a level 50 mob.

Shut up and stop whinging - you are getting an item for no work save sitting at your keyboard. Its eq for free and the price you pay is pretty low. Especially as (I think) it can be done as a ghost.

Its far more dangerous for evils and neuts who likely have someone hunting them while they are trying to eq. They don't get to get a basic set for free as a ghost either.

Whilst I agree with L-A, one thing I wouldn't mind seeing is a way of coming from the request state. Obvious penalties would apply - the full calm affect for the full length of time, with the item in question being destroyed (a real ache if it's rare, as goodies can't kill the mob for it to repop). Heck, throw in damnation or the like too - you're interrupting a prayer to your Lord on your own accord, maybe something else too - to really make it something you don't want to do unless absoluitely neccessary (ie. half-way through requesting, prot-shield falls, enemy Warrior enters).

Whilst Evils have to fight a mob for a piece of EQ, with the high-end EQ, goodies are weakened a lot through requesting - difference being, that Evils can (generally speaking) flee the mob they're fighting and recall, or pop up spells that are going to fall. A good is at the complete mercy of the request timer.

Add into this that for a lot of good pieces of armor/weapons, goods still have to fight mobs for it.

This is by no means a whinge - I fully appreciate that goods can get some good stuff by requesting where evils have to fight for it, and you can request whilst a ghost. But IMO a way of breaking the request (with much harsher penalties than if you just let them attack you - yes, it would have it's uses) would be pretty good. Especially as the 'where' command is unavailable to you - it's only going to be useful if you see an enemy enter the room whilst you request, and they're there long enough for you to break request and run.

Now, on the flipside, most high-level stuff is pretty much out of the way. And to be fair, I don't remember EVER being caught with my pants down mid-request, and I play a LOT of goods. AND PK aside, your risk of dying is reduced to 0% unlike when you have to fight a mob. Request comes into it's own when you're a ghost, especially when you have summon. Just an idea I'm tossing out, feel free to pick apart and throw it back in my English face.

That's just it genius. There are problems with it. It's not free and the price you pay is more than what an evil pays. Work it out in your head, or did you fall off your bicycle too much?

Persistant manner eh? Point out where I've brought it up before. Here's another one, your constant and persistant use of the word "whinge" is more than annoying.

Like I said, its safer than having to unghost when someone camps your re-eq areas. Much safer. That alone makes it a sweet deal for goods.

wow, who pissed in your cheeri-o's voodoo?

requesting is another way to accomplish the same thing, and for some classes is a HUGE benefit, as they typically could not kill mobs solo that they can request from. The idea wasnt to say requesting is bunk, broken or unfair, it was just to add a timer to reduce the stress you get as a player not knowing how long your stuck...geesh..
