Creative Writing Forum

I remember on the old forum, people used to be able to post stories and whatnot at will. I think it would be interesting, for people to be able to post anything they write that isn't really directly related to FL. For example, if you write a lengthy backstory that's not going in as an application, or even one that has gone in for an application in the past, you could post it. The main thing is, I'm not talking about like, RP logs. But people could also collaborate on stories, or people in English classes could post things they had fun writing.

I think it would be neat, and relatively easy to set up.

It could, but if you were going to put stuff like former applications or character histories in the OOC forum, it could start getting confusing. Plus it would get lost in the sea of posts regarding other random topics. Peoples' creative genius deserves a spot of its own in our hearts, doesn't it?

might be true. and of course, it could be helpful for people who are writing their first qrace/qclass app. then they could get a feel for how long it should be etc.

I, being a writer myself, and an english teacher, also like the idea. I'd post and read religiously.

As far as backstories for characters and the like, it would be fairly appropriate to submit it for us to post in the RP Logs section. Technically, it's not a log but it's close enough. For creative stories unrelated to FL, they would be fine in the OOC forum.

I was just thinking that for a community of people who, for all intents and purposes, write a new story every day, that it would be a good idea for that writing to have its own place to belong, rather than sharing it with things that are of a fairly different genre.

I like the idea. I've toyed with being a writer for a long time now, and that would only spur me on.

As far as serious writing and collaboration goes, I think it would be interesting to have some community stories. It would be a lot more static than RP goes, but it could still be fun to see how things would develop.

The other thing is, it wouldn't be a terribly difficult change to put into place.

Actually, this topic brings up an idea I've toyed with for a long time. I always wanted to write a FL-set Fantasy Novel (series?). I got started on a story a while back, but then put it down. If anyone would like to try and collaborate on something in this arena, or even bounce ideas off me/each other, I'd love the input and help.

i have actually thought very seriously about doing something similar. i was going to write a book based on the 'Child of Lies' plot. once i get some time, i will go about it. i'll post snippets when able. for the whole thing, though, you'll have to buy the book (when i get that FAT book deal, of course).

'Spiser did some good stuff from Marty's point of view, but that got finished earlier than expected, as we all know.

I like this idea, I have quite a few half decent backgrounds that i probably wont use.

I concur, a creative writing forum would be perfect.

I have thought of close to the same thing. When I played Korinta, I wrote several songs. I wanted to post them but I have never had a place to post them.

Edit: for the record I never posted anything about this and was not trying to steel the Idea.
