Preserve

I'd suggest giving it to bards. They are a rogue class as well as the thief and ninja, so it makes perfect sense to me. Also, it seems like it would just fit in nicely all around.

bards? give it to rangers, rangers in all rights would make sense. ranger = nature, drugs = nature, what else do you need?

I'm just saying that whatever thinking went into giving it to thieves and ninjas should/would fit with bards as well. Besides which, all of those classes rely heavily on drugs for combat, whereas with rangers it's not quite as necessary.

there's also good reason...rangers are geared more for the potency of fresh herbs, allowing them to heal themselves massively, rather than dry and protect natural herbs for later use. i'm pretty sure there's been a good explanation before of why rangers and druids don't have the skill as well.

Bards, I donno, but here's something I wrote on the old unofficial forums as to why Rangers don't get it..

PRESERVE

Syntax: preserve

While those living in the forest could gather the plants as was needed,

city-dwellers were not so lucky. They found that the herbs collected

from only a few days ago would quickly rot away into useless dirt.

A solution was quickly found by the Thief and Ninja Guilds. Today,

they are the only ones who know how to preserve drugs.

SEE ALSO: DRUGS, SMOKE

Rangers found out that once you pick a plant, it dies shortly there after. Being the forest dwellers and around the plants and wildlife the most, it would only make sence that this knowledge would come quickly. Unfortunately, they don't have the means to preserve them, not having a natural preservative to keep them fresh longer. Unlike salt, which keeps meat fresher without keeping it in a modern day ice chest, this preservative is a blend of multiple things and not easily accessable to those in the forest for lengths of time. This preservative has to be manufactured by combining a number of different elements. IE: The liquid base for a potion and Brandy mixed with bakers yeast and a drop of jewelry cleaning solution. Ninja's and thieves on the other hand, being city folk, have easier access to the preservative ingredients, thus their ability to find that solution. They then coveted the secret, allowing none other to find out.

that's what i was thinking about. but i couldn't remember where i had seen it. been too long since i've thought about the unofficial forums.

Yes I would agree giving it to the bards. It seems to me that the bards should represent more of a free spirit. Sort of like a not tie-died, not so peace loving, non-hippysh hippy.

Bards I think, are high on their music, and enjoy playing for those around them. Not in shady dealings and doing their own stash.

well it would makes sense since bards make their own booze. why not make their stash last longer?

also another way to look at it is this bards are like rock and rap stars so of course they have the booze and alll they need now is the 'medicine'

Bards I think' date=' are high on their music, and enjoy playing for those around them. Not in shady dealings and doing their own stash. [/quote']

hey...a few of us like our stash.

besides, bards are a rogue-type class, and really they're a jack of all trades. considering that i would think that adding preserve to the class wouldn't hurt.

all things considered i would vote that bards, with their extensive knowledge and access to so many areas, would've learned a simple skill like preserve. while it is a guarded secret, bards are supposed to be experts of knowledge and well-versed in the ways of the world, else why give them perfect lore readings?

i agree with giving bards preserve, i think it's a great idea.

I think every member of a certain cabal should get it. And i'm not talking about Watcher.

I know exactly what you mean...Syndicate seems like it should get preserve automatically.

Yeah, Herald, something about that cabal always made me think of hippies, not sure why.
