What if we changed the Unique elf sword that only elfs can use, from two handed to one handed ?
The sword is mostly never used because of that, what elf would ever use a two handed sword.
Warriors dual wield because they must, else a sword and shield would prove more effective. Or a Polearm/Staff.
I mean evils get so mutch cool stuff and elves get roted by the iron thing and their most famouse weapon is normaly in because no one uses it.
