k well I havent gotten to pin yeat so ive bounced into a few in the fourties as well - but yeah can be my european timezone that makes me always log onto a couple of vamps, a couple of necros and then add to the mix a few evil clerics.

Anyhow, in essence, this is my advice. The 'cookie cutter' combinations, despite leading you into probably a pretty good PK/PD ratio, are still mediocre in the extreme, and rarely, if ever, will be a dominating force. In terms of overall PK/PD ratio, my drow cleric, Malekine, has the best, for me, but honestly, who remembers him?
If you want to do very well in PK, make a combination that you feel has few weaknesses in defense, offense, AND in getting the kill. Rank him. Test him. If its as strong as you think, congratulations! And if its not, figure out why its not. Anyone remember Nortak? He originally blew, hardcore, and took so many deaths it wasn't funny. Later on, something must have clicked for the man, because suddenly, with the same combination, he began to do much, much better.
Or, by everything I hear, look at Senrail. He was getting slapped right and left by the Savants, but suddenly, something clicked for him, and he's more or less been demolishing their cabal ever since.
If PK/PD ratio is what's important to you, by all means, making a mediocre cookie-cutter, but I'm warning you, it's definitely not what its cracked up to be. If what is important to you is, however, your impact on the lands, then I suggest you do something different. For a final example, look at Nesaren. Considering he actually condeathed, I hear, his PK/PD ratio is probably, if you work it out mathematically, six times worse or so than your average cookie cutter drow cleric. But I will wager you anything that he had a bigger impact on FL, and will be remembered longer, than virtually all of them, including my own.
I think that mostly hits the nail on the head for me and why I very rarely play your everyday combos. I've got to try something though, whatever I've been doing lately just isn't working.

In relations to Senrail, I think some changes with a characte'rs effectiveness are also driven by who he faces and how that changes over time. The savants that were slapping him around like a backwater banjo aren't playing anymore, or are on very seldom.
Though I must give some props to that kid for sticking through and not just deleting as seems to be the trend.

Don't do a Slith for the love of everything, I see enough of them. do a halfling blademaster, I liked my elven Blademaster it was fun.
I can't roll anything new cause Chayesh just reboots the mud after I get my roller started.
