An out of combat, target other, dispel magic that does not initiate combat.
For two decades we have been telling each other to sleep so we can dispel. Its a work around a game mechanic. Lets eliminate its need.
Why out of combat? Because removing only a certain magic requires concentration.
Why target other? So the Battle mages do not acquire a cure all for themselves. They already have Cancelation.
I can't think of the last time I tried to get rid of a group/cabal/mate mate's ailments, miscast or otherwise. In fact, I'd forgotten that this is viable. That's not to say that I haven't done it to mastery on a sleeping guard/wizard. Perhaps you're assuming to cancel things like sanctuary so you can recast it, or perhaps enlarge. You can use cancellation on another person, provided they're at least following you. Which makes this largely moot.
Because as a cheap (read: circumventing) way to get rid of poison or plague or faerie fire or other ailment that can be dispelled but not cancelled but you don't have cure disease or cure poison or cure blindness sounds awfully exploit-y.
There's a reason you can't dispel something like slow.
If you're a battlemage, you can just cast haste to effectively cancel it anyway, and that can be cancelled.
I don't believe this would be needed.

Oh I see now.
Believe it or not, this is NOT how my copy of this help file reads. But I do not update them perhaps I should.
CANCELLATION
Syntax: cast 'cancellation'
Syntax: cast 'cancellation'
Syntax: cast 'cancellation' (new?)

The spell cancellation allows the caster to remove all or specific magical
enhancements that are affecting him. This spell does not always guarantee
that spells affecting the caster will be removed. One may have to cast it
several times to remove every single affect. Some spells that cause harmful
ailments may not be removed by the cancellation spell and must be cured.
Some offensive spells cast by opponents may not be cancelled at all.
Thanks @Magick!

I've been doing that since 1.0. Especially with 0-1 hours of sanc left and you want to get back to hunting/eq gathering. It's not new by any means.
Stop owning noobs with facts, @Magick.
