How does damroll relate to average damage of a weapon? I'm trying to figure out what is a good trade off for say X damroll for -1 weapon damage for example.
Damroll to Average Damage
It was ( weapon_damage x modifiers + damroll ) x vuln_multiplier.
The corolary was:
-
Meeles, get best base_weapon they could get.
-
Mages, get best damrooll +_avg_damage
For example for berserker who get several multipliers, best +1 weapon avg ~= +2 damroll.
But that was then, now ... who knows.
In my opinion weapon type matters a lot more than weapon damage. Because hitting more often = more damage dealt.
Then comes AC, worse magic weapons can hit harder that better phisical weapons vs people who have bad magic AC.
But now everyone has better magic AC than physical AC, specially the top players.
Then comes dual wield, since the +Damroll of the main weapon affects the damage output of your offhand attacks.
So... to many factors to be sure.
I just make the approximation 1 avg weapon damage = 2 damroll and call it a day.
Nice. I was mainly trying to figure out a good breakpoint to switch out weapons of the same family i.e. damroll + avg damage versus another.
