Is there a way to turn off room descriptions? I have logged trips to areas and I'm now trimming them down to make them easier to follow when I attempt to go back. If in the future I could turn off room desc and just have it show the name of the room and which way we went that'd be great and make it much easier to edit long logs.
remove room descriptions?
the command you seek is ....... brief. Try it
I always do 'scroll 0' and 'brief' when I have a new toon
I've tried "brief". It confuses me to no end, so I switch back.
I can't understand why brief would be confusing to people, what does it do to your experience? Room names are all you need lol
Except when the room descriptions give clues to hidden exits or extra descriptions like the one north out of Maelbrim. Sure, they're mostly cosmetic, but they're an appreciated cosmetic.
Also some rooms have the same name but different descriptions which can also help in some areas.
I've never been able to use brief. I get lost.
First command I enter after creation.
Cool. Guess that cuts my time in rebuilding an area in half. I can just change the room names and you guys will be happy?

The reason I do it is because if I leave room descriptions on it blows through my buffer to fast and I can't scroll back far enough if/when needed. Was this way years ago using GMUD as my client and I've just gotten used to it.
Yep, I also only used brief. You can always use a manual look if you think the room might have secrets in the description for whatever reason.
I also agree that room descriptions aren't an efficient use of builder time. I'd rather have an equal amount of words in dialogue or even in background lore than as passive descriptions. I think that 95% of room descriptions could be procedurally generated. If nothing else, put that descriptive effort into a few great rooms rather than spreading it into a typically moderate quality overall. This is coming from a builder that made unique item descriptions for every item.
I use Brief when I know I will log it. But to play, I need ALL of Aabahran.
To me each room has a feel and more important, a shape.
There are many Same Name rooms, that begin with similar descriptions. Its the end, the bottom, the shape that guides my way.
When an area changes, a simple change in the description telling of a new path, I make wrong turns for weeks.
But that's just me.
