Build Instrument

I'm confused, how do I add build 1/2/3/4?  Maintain is easy but I'm confused about how to add the other layers.

The numbers are just there to show you what spots they're in. So when you build an instrument, the effects listed in 1-4 are added. Then maintains for when you add to the weapon, along with a spell if it's there.

Ohhh, someone spoke about layers so I thought you could add different materials to modify a n instrument.  So I build and get all of the perks of build 1-4 and can maintain once to modify it with whatever I want to make it different.  That'll make it a lot easier to decide what kind of instrument I want to make!!!

You can maintain it twice. Or three times. I can't remember.

I believe that you can maintain it 4 times
