So my question is how the heck do i use it with what little i know about it.. whats a good starting point to learn the eq foe the lands?

Go to items, then on the pop down menu choose armor, then a field will pop up where you can choose what slot (chest, waist, hands, ect.)

My question is how good is your knowledge of the lands? If I tell you exactly how to get something from winter/deso/discord are you going to be able to manage it?
Otherwise my biggest advice would be find a friend in the lands. Someone who can teach you everything. If you're lucky you'll find me 
and I'll teach you everything... If you're unlucky you'll think Im Thulgan, and he'll crush you into tiny bits and use the paste to make icing on his elf cakes.

Good old control+f. But no, you pretty much have to sift through results for basic searches.
