A monks beads?

Curious how important are a monks beads, and can they be blown up?

Very important, not only do they add amazing stats when made with max mana, you can automatically strangle people when you're about to die.

I do not recall ever having, or seeing beads burn. I would say they are burnproof, though could be mistaken.

Not burnproof, however I can't recall ever having seen some getting destroyed either.

Considering they are held and not 'wielded' I don't think icestorm can break em. But I'd be willing to bet a lucky hellstream might.

If they are not burnproof, they a hellstream can break them. Chance is very slim though.

Battlemages can disarm them.

I always kept a second set made up lol, but always sucked at monks. Never a kill...

I generally had two sets as well, granted I'd do one set for about 80 ticks roughly and then do the next one. I can't remember how long they last, but I think it's a little over 100 ticks before they crumble. The stats are very nice on them and without them for a Monk their luck, hitroll and ac suffer greatly.

Shhh... he is too busy whining

Lol, now now be nice.

It's got to be over a hundred ticks... my last monk had them for days worth of playtime. Are they proportional to how much mana you place in them, and also your skill in beads, perhaps?

I'm pretty sure that's a no. Beads skill has no real affect on the overall quality of beads, just less often that you'd fail the higher the skill is. Even 50mana beads lasted just as long as 500mana beads. I was thinking somewhere around 120-140 ticks total life time for beads. I could make sure for certain, but the real killer for a Monk is when they have to empower offensively or defensively anyways. If you catch them in that time you'll almost certainly win.

Yeah i remember a few times as Taos being caught with that falling, and getting my *** handed to me... but i found a sneaky little way around it that i'm sure most monks would know did not know that btm's could disarm them though, that is interesting.

I believe I know the method of which you speak and that's not a guaranteed way of getting around it so to speak. Anyone who knows about it can easily just wait around for that to happen and get a quick drop in and cause you to die just as easily. I'm surprised BMGs can disarm their beads though, I wonder if that means they can disarm staves/wands as well then.

I would bet it does.

PS. I wasn't aware as well.

Ofcourse they can.

With localise gravity you can disarm weapons, shields and any held item I believe..

Facing an invoker with a charged dragon orb? Never fear, localise gravity is here.

I believe beads last 48 hours. Astul(a) taught my monk to always carry two sets of beads. An extra one is vital after they snap from a strangling.

Beads have always lasted a lot longer than 48 ticks. My first character here was a Monk and I had them for a lot longer than that time period. I haven't had a difference in success rate of strangling either based off when they were made. Having two sets is always a good thing though, but like I said, I prefer making my second set about 80 ticks in, then I'm almost always carrying two at a time.

Hahahahah!

I am doing ok now, changed my entire strategy and gameplan. Working out now.
