Two-handed vs One-handed

Shouldn't two handed weapons on average do more damage than single handed weapons? When looking at the weapon list, I see that alot of your two handed weapons don't do more average damage than a single handed one. Why would anyone trade off a good damage single handed weapon and a shield for a two handed one? I know weapon block is effective, but not really anymore effective than shield block, and you lose the bonus to armor and stats from the shield as well.

I don't really see the bonuses here... On average "in most games" two handed weapons do more damage because they take up both hands, where as one handed weapons can be dual-wielded and such. I know giants can wield a two handed weapon with one hand and single in the other which would give them a bonus. As it should, because they are giants. However, there are far to many single handed weapons out there that do way more average damage.

Say that to a shadowdancing halfling

I find 2-handed, in the right situations better than 1-hand...It is a trade-off in offence and defence. Your opponents weapon knolwedge is a HUGE part of it. A polearm against someone who does not know polearms will block nearly every incoming attack and land 2 - 3 every round. If you add in good socket knowledge and weapon procs this can become a very consitent offence.

I <3 2h weapons. Especially as anything giant sized melee!
