Magic strike

Are spells that are not trained past 1 gonna be attempted to use with magic strike?

Just wondering if I need to practice them at all or not... Some spells just seem useless compared to others... I use to think every spell had a purpose but seriously, lightning bolt and chill touch really do nothing against a properly placed harm or magic missile IMO

Ask someone who plays your class in game for some advice as to which spells have a chance to fire off. Anything not mastered will result in you getting some message like "Your lack of mastery prevents the spell from firing off".
