Army WF basics by Erana

Most basically:

you initiate (and leave) army mode by typing: army

begin to conscript 10 sets of troops: c 10

begin to automatically train those troops after they conscript: t 10

(You will always do these commands right when you log on to get your troops going)

list the maps to fight on by typing: map (cabal)

choose a map using its number: map (number)

choose a bastion to attack: z (bastion number)

send trained armies to attack it: aa (you will want to send three armies and keep sending more as they die)

After you eventually capture the bastion, you will want to garrison it twice: gg

Then you will want to fortify it: ff

If you manage to get those three troops that are already fighting to fortify and garrison on the tick the enemy bastion falls, it will be much faster.

Example: Enemy Bastion is being attacked by your armies 123 124 125

On the tick the enemy falls you type g 123; g 124; f 125

This is incredibly helpful. I remember several chars I've specifically taken hours just to show to do this stuff.

Another tip: you can use patrols by walking to the area, then go to a room WITHOUT bastion next to the room the enemy bastion is in, then z(oom) to this room and type pp (patrol).

You can station 2 patrols in one room. Now if one of your armies dies, you can use one of your patrols to attack the enemy bastion nearby, which is much faster than having the army run from your home to the area the fight is in. If your patrol has the vnum 222 you would z(oom) on the enemy bastion and then type a 222.

patrols are also helpful for cutting off your enemies supply line

For example: If you are fighting in the Chasm against the Knight and you've just taken the first bastion coming from Tainted Valley side. You can walk past the first bastion in the Chasm (you now own it remember) and station patrols between that first bastion and the Knight cabal.

If Knight tries to send armies to attack that bastion you just took, they will have to fight your patrol first, giving you time to garrison and fortify. A lot of times people will just get frustrated by this and stop sending armies or log off

I've also stolen bastions as a third party. Lahnidas(nexus) was taking knight land in khorandain. He had it down to the bastion and I (scorvale savant also warring knight had patrolled armies one room away. When it was near death and his armies fell i replaced them with mine, snaking the bastion. I got some nice words, a bastion abd 115 cps.

Oh not to mention with patrol, you can route armies. Sending an attack goes the shortest distance. Sometimes you can get around some fortifications. Savant has a HUGE advantage in this respect.

LOL. I would garrison but never fortify to make it a full bastion. Forgot how to do it and couldn't remember for the life of me!

I've been wondering about this for a while, actually. If we're going to keep the mechanic in, perhaps it should take longer or cost more to make trained armies... make it so there's actually a trade-off in deciding whether to train them or not.
