I always wear a practice weapon my class does not teach or I havent practiced yet, and play with the canibals, sliths, or ofcol guards. But thats just me. And I do not get in a hurry. Note, this is a great reason to not practice sword first.

For lawfuls chars, I train this early on (like mid 20's). Try not training whip or mace....wield a prac mace and disarm Magneto. It won't be as quick as the Hamlet but it's not bad.
