Why is it that a monk/blademaster can wear the light-spiked steel gauntlets and not be encumbered but the light-spiked steel boots encumber them.
just wanting to know, don't know why but this has always stumped me.

Because the light spiked boots are too heavy? 
Perhaps monks can deal with a bit more weight on their hands and punch effectively but need something very light on their feet for those kung-fu kicks.

well yes i know that they are too heavy but that is my whole point of this, why are the boots too heavy, when they are light-spiked... i just thought that they should be about the same weight as the gauntlets right?
Well, gauntlet's are usually lighter since there's less steel on them (just being over the knuckles of your hands, usually) . Boots however cover your whole foot, usually up to your shins or higher, and sometimes up to your knees.
More steel = more weight.

You can wear more weight on your feet than your hands, anyway. Doesn't make much sense when you put it that way.
I think it's more a balance thing, too make monks and blademaster's choose between saves or hr/dr.
I think the builder, just didnt take into account the weight of the "light" boots.
Every other light-spiked item can be worn, I believe. The leggings? anyone have a more recent monk with them?
