Defending against special skills.

Ok, so if you have a DK fighting say a Monk. If the DK masters kick will it help him defend against kicks that the monk throw his way? What about trip? Or bash versus a warrior? I have read through the threads and I know that mounted, dex, etc help against bash, but does mastering a skill help defend against a skill the same way weapons do?

No, mastering kick will not aid you defend against Kick.

What might aid you against Kick is Armour Class, and I stress MIGHT.

If you wish to protect trip, you should be flying.

If you wish to protect against bash, you should have good AC, and enlarge yourself.

You should also have all your stats Maxed, all your defenses mastered, your and your opponent weapon mastered and fighting on Water to prevent you having to fight blinded by dirt kick.

Vs a monk, I would use a Polearm. Don't forget to have a Bashing pet, as they can break lag locks by bashing you oponent.

Also Meeles who have huge Hit/Dam tend to have crap saves, so casting is always a option. Don't over spam.

Why would you tell someone to use a polearm vs a monk mya. Monks can use polearms........

Vs a monk I recommend axe/flail or axe/shield. That is a bit more effective since you will hit them, and have offense.

Different persons have different strategies.

I use Polearms cause my strategy is over-damage by spells and Pet, which needs a strong defense. Polearm is the best defense for a DK vs a Monk. This works O.K. from my experience.

You favor Melee attack, with an offensive weapon.

Diferent mindsets.

mace/shield would be the best I think given that I am fairly sure monks dont get mace........... Shield is more reliable than two handed, and if you get disarmed with mace, you still have a defense. Disarmed with polearm = fukt.

As a DK offense it the answer MOST of the time. As a Paladin, defense is the answer MOST of the time. I can see a DK dual wielding axes/whips to beat a monk to hell, imho.

This.

Thanks for all the help guys. Got the answer I was looking for, it kind of made sense to me that mastering a skill, when the skill was used against you it would be easier to defend against. But that's not the way it works. So thankfully I won't have to master a skill I won't use.
