You could certainly roll a elf and send an app to be neutral... just expect to lose something... or many things, whatever the case may be. I had a neutral drow battlemage.

Personally the major disagreement I have with half elves is they cannot be any mage classes. They are actually the only race limited to melee oriented classes, yet any of the things that could make them half(whatever else besides elf) CAN be a caster or communer. Unless its a half minotaur/ogre

It became a side project when I realized that "complete mastery of the mind" was going to take twice as long as mastering all the anatomies took. I will get back to it in time, I hope, truth is its kind of fitting, by the time the half-elf becomes a psion he will be very very old.
