Hello all,
I rolled up myself a Half-elf blademaster and I am having a heck of a time at the lower ranks here without Dirt kicking. I never realized how much that skill helps. I am getting my behind kicked by the lamia's in Thalos for crying out loud. Could you guys give me some suggestions to help? PRETTY PLEASE?

Heh....do the guild quests for sure...do as many of the beginning quests as you can. Master defenses.
And head to Minoma around level 15. There's a weapon there you need to buy. 
Blademasters take a while to get them going. There's a couple of pets you can buy in game that dirt kick, too.
At level 8 go to elf city and buy an alsatian pet...that should get you to 15-ish pretty easily.
Blademasters are a tough class to start with, especially for one with less experience.

If the problem is only with lower ranks - do quests till rank 8. Buy alsatian. Rank to 20. Buy a gorilla (from the same place). Rank some more.
You will need an extraordinary amount of time to train a BLM.

Focus armor in HITROLL.
Buy beads necklace in Tarandue.
Get the Bracers from Kamir.
