Maybe someone can help clear this up for me.
Say I have in my backpack three bowls of herb.
I pick up a bowl of herb and place it in my back pack.
Now, in my backpack I have four bowls of herb.
When I get bowl backpack will I be taking the most recent bowl out of the backpack that I just placed in, or the oldest bowl of herb in the backpack?
I want to use the oldest one first, so to do this must I enter 'get bowl backpack' or 'get 4.bowl backpack'

You will be grabbing the last one you put in, sad but true. Get 4.bowl bac is what you need to enter. For me it does not matter, by the time I have four one of you kills me and takes my backpack. LOL
I have always been under the impression that the most recent one you put in your backpack will be the one you get out of the backpack when you "get bowl backpack". It's logical, since when you put something new in your backpack, you put it on top of your other things, not beneath (just like a stack in programming).
I haven't proved it, but I must be right 
Btw, when I read your title, I thought you had an idea about a "backpack cabal" 
(I didn't pay attention to whether it was newbie or idea section) So I was just as wtf-confused as nomak until I read your post
