Locked Monk trip

If my anecdotal evidence is of any use, I never had a problem with Monks, and was even able to kill a competent barbarian monk(Weituo) with one of my shamans.

I saw a log of weituo perfectly laglocking a decked drow DK for well over 30 rounds.

I'll once again bring out my "Barbarian Monk" clause.

barbarian monk and pando shaman piss me off more than anything

For me, the problem with monks seems to be that there is no reason to NOT go dragon (or very occassionally crane/horse) 95% of the time. The stances aren't really balanced with each other.

Basically, super size + noremove disarm + offhand parry + dragon super chakeras (+ even super kicks) = stance of choice for most any fight

You will never see tiger/buddha in serious pk. Monkey has become rare because people don't rely on chakeras as much to lag anymore (due to the air thrash change)

In those logs, the caster/blm made some serious mistakes and could have easily lived (but not the tribunal vs nexus one)

Although, yes I agree, I don't exactly like fighting monks. I haven't been laglocked yet, but I've been hit with 3 dragons (those dragons hit A LOT!) during a laglock before (and numerous fights to live with less than 40 hp, only surviving from wimpy flee and 100% defensive fighting + a lot of consumable prep)

6-7+ rounds is a long time to be laglocked against dragon melee for most characters I think (I know I can barely survive that with the chars I play).

But, like I said, they haven't actually landed the lock 100% on me yet.

I've played a few successful monks, and have never stuck with just one stance. If you do, you know its death in most cases. I've switched around stances PLENTY of times against my opponents to screw the crap out of them or to confuse them into think I was going to do one thing, but do another.

The only stance I hardly ever use is...

Oh wait, I use them all. And buddha is at 89%.

I have found two uses for Buddha. Nothing to write home about, but worth the 2 practices.

I frequently use crane, dragon, horse and drunken in PK, in that order of how much I use them.

I dont see why monks got tonned up to tell you the honest truth. I had an early monk, air thrash didn't lag to the ****house, no second parry in offensive, and even then I managed I kick arse (I only died once to Barnok, and that was because he found me sleeping, acid blast scrolled me, and in those days ninjas had about a million autothrows).

I'll also state I hadn't trained at all. You'd find my anatomies laughable. I dont even think second parry was mastered. If I had of trained the character, I don't want to know.

I'd like to hear what justified the tone up.

The key word here is "early". The game and the PB with it, is far from this stage.

I personally love tiger stance. I found the Dragon phantom strikes far too unreliable while tiger occurred much more frequently.

Doesn't matter how much skill you think you have, if you cant flee or use any abilities.

I'll prove they're not overpowered. I'll make one.

takes a hit off his cigarette "Yeah, baby. That's right. I'm the lawn mower and your @$$ is grass." muttering if monks are overpowered

time to make a monk smasher....

Haha, I'd like to know what your monk smasher is. Ability to disarm noremove weapons, two at once, whilst causing you lag. Extremely hard to battle.

assassination ninja

Preying Mantis.

It makes me laugh how all of a sudden, the finger of OP changes and points at different things.

Almost makes you not want to play the damn character, especially when a lot of the time things get blown out of proportion.

Are you sure that you are not just under powered?

I'm not one to stifle discussion, but this thread is just full of either misleading or downright wrong information. Seems like I have said this half a dozen times in the last week, but it is not possible for a non-Barb monk to fully laglock with trips alone. I have watched the battles, and I have looked at the skill code. I am going to close this thread in the interest of not misleading people who haven't played monks before.
