My ranger's equipment and some questions.

Greetings one and all,

This is a list of the equipment my ranger has:

a suit of mithril armor, all except for the vest. A double plated breastplate, jagged boots, a blac velvet cloak, a teeth necklace, fur cloak, titanium bracer, a gleaming steel bracer, two onyx rings, and an onyx earing. I am wielding a frigid staff as well as an ashen short bow. I also have two icicles and two different exotic rods, one of which is the holy rod and the other I am not going to mention. My to hit is 24 and my dam roll is only 12. What suggestions do you vets have for my eq? I am rank 29. Also one more rank and i can choose a forest lore. should I choose rapid fire or fletchery?

Why don't you pick what YOUR RP dictates or what you think would be fun/interesting?

Why not make a character that can identify equipment and make an arrangement of your own suit? I know this is time consuming, but it's well worth it.

I played a few rangers and I know pretty much exactly how to gear one for size, race, and class (flet/forest/beast).

I think you're an elf right?

This is what I suggest for your rank:

light - translucent combat lantern - barren highlands which is all the way north from rhydien, keep going till you see the knight. He should be easy to kill.

neck - teeth necklaces, get two. Medallions may reduce your hp too much.

mithril suit - Its pretty damn good, try and trade our the helm and legs for the double plated stuff you got from Kesrick, like your fullplate.

earring - Werewolf tooth is quite nice, its all the way north to the volcano from Murivhour, on the second werewolf. he'll he wearing it so you can see which one is the right one..

weapon -

swords - checking for hte frostband sword or the holy avenger could be good, two very nice swords.

daggers - icicles and fiery daggers from elemental canyon, hit vulns for two big ranking areas for you, centaurs and elium. Get a set of two for both.

exotics - two of those rods of holiness will be good cause they can hit a lot of vulns for the stuff you're fighting.

Ranger staff - a very nice weapon, otherwise the frigid is find for your rank I used that all the way to like 45.

Ashen shortbow is fine for your rank... Ah... Maybe the yew bow from irin in emerald although the upgrade isnt needed.

Bracers - try get two titaniums, be good for you.

Rings - they are fine, depending non if you want to swap hitroll for damroll or mix them, interchange opal and onyx.

Choosing fletchery or rapid - I'd say choose fletchery first, there is a bit of training needed to master the skill which is very important, you'll see why as you go. Rapid fire helps somewhat, but with a low accuracy bow not really needed. Plus rapid fire learns really quickly so you can do that last very easily.. It'll help master your archery skill later too...

I think you should wear nothing but boots and a weapon. At least that's what I would like to see you in.

Get:

two teeth necklaces - Area Elven Trail monster Orc Warrior

two titanium bracers - Area Ford monster Jhaerek

Drop the bear cloak at rank 30.

Buy a foul weather Poncho - Area Chasm Northwest near the Dead Sea Monster Lugard shop

earring - buy a Stud for Luck - Area Cristalmir Cave Monster Shop

At rank 30 chose Fletchery .

Then master it by making lots and lots of arrows in a forest.

This will aid you extremely.

Some more Tips :

Join the Academy in Rheydin.

Type ' CC message ' to speak to the academy.

You should join Herald Cabal . This will protect you a lot from Player Killing PK .

There is an Old Score Sheet , that should be better than the New One .

Help Score

Old score is better because it all in text , and not in a Box of lines .

Joining academy is a great idea, because there you can ask for advice and so in-game. But DONT join herald. Take the fights instead. Don't get discouraged when you die, it will happen. But that's the only way to learn.

I do not use the ashen shortbow. Never have, likely never will. You are an elf, go to the elven kingdom, there are two spare bows there for you. Elven bow which is decent for now, elven long bow which is slightly better. The first can be purchased, the other you must request. If I remember right... Also the bows you will create are the "best" bows in the game. While buff arrows will help you out for now, take Bowyer second, as has been mentioned rapid fire should be last.

I would drop the teeth necklaces all together and get spiked collars, but you might want to go the the arena and stay under lvl 30 getting the eq there.

Also you can request platinum eq from ofcol.

platinum is extremely heavy, hes an elf dale.

Elf ranger, unless it's a weapon that takes 19 str to wield, I think he will be okay.

Maybe, I avoid the platinum with my elves. Heavy armor takes up a large portion of overall weight carried. If I am decked in platinum I can not carry as many arrows and consumables. Just how I roll, its been said before, roll your own way.

Then you need a backpack.

He's saying he carries extra weapons, consumables, arrows and such outside of his backpack. Platinum = less of all of that and an easier time for thieves.

He was looking for a better set of eq than mithril. Yeah it's a little on the heavy side, but even the double plated is never in, I can't even get the draconian kings rares without one or two being gone. I killed him three times yesterday just trying to get his shield, who hordes his shield!?
