It seems that all the most powerful weapons obtainable at lvl 25-35 are all exotics. This is frustrating because I try to master weapons while solo-ranking, yet I feel limited to a weapon for which there is no trainable skill...
Am I wrong here or what? Rods/blacksphere/planar blade etc etc seem much better than Whip of Dominion/emerald sword/other non-exotic mid-level weapons...
How does exotic work itself as a skill? Do all classes share an innate 75% proficiency in it?
Your skill with exotic weapons correlates to your level.
Honestly I prefer the following weapons for level 30:
Dragon tail whip (dragon tower in shadow grove.)
Emerald sword (also dragon tower)
Fiery dagger/icicle (elemental canyon.)
Sharp glaive (tarandue)
Staff of fangs (Minoma)
Frozen flail (minoma)
serpentine flail (minoma)
That is a pretty decent covering of all the 25-35 range with non-rare weaponry. Alot of those are very nice as well.
At least two of those are rare weapons, haven't seen the last three though or ID'd them since Minoma was put in mostly because I haven't tried IDing anything in there because I can't cast it anymore and I hate Brambus.
yes, the whip, and sword are both rares. BUT they are also relatively easy to get at level 25+. For something with decent damage output. A shaman, bmg, or cleric MAY have trouble gaining those things at level 30.
Bmgs should have no issue acquiring any of those things. It is clerics that will have the issue and even then...you are a cleric. Get your hunting party to take that little side trip for you while you are waiting for mobs to repop and you will be fine.

What? You're a cleric. Grab a gharnizon or crappy little merc. Recite a scroll. You can get all that stuff easily.
I try to give information that you can use solo. The gharnizon and golem require you to know two of the most out of the way recalls. Which I am not counting on when explaining where to get a sharp glaive 
Clerics ?
Fiery Sceptre all the way. I get PK's with that crap. As most Armor at that rank lacks decent AC vs Magic.

Iron Pike - Polearm Alexus
Holy Avenger - Sword
Fiery/Icicle - Dagger
Frostbrand - Sword Rare
Hell Blade - Sword, no drop
Hell Spear - Spear, no drop
Rusty blade - Sword, no rem (not for newbies)
Emerald Sword - Sword, put a socket on it.
Fiery Sceptre - Mace, best magic mace in game short of pinacle.
Warhammer MageWapper - Mace
Shocking Spear - Spear
Dragons tail - Whip
Frozen Flail - Flail Shop
Staff of Fang - Staff Overpowered
serpentine snake flail - Flail
Flail consumed tainted - Flail , no drop
Flaming Morningstar - Flail, shop
Holy Rod - Exotic, Holy damage
Planar Blade - Exotic, rare.
Rod Stars - Exotic, (not for newbies)
Lots of weapons.
Just grab a Vulnerability weapon while you are ranking and you should be well.
Battlemages, wait for haste before mastering weapons. Use practice weapons when ranking. You meele output sucks anyway.
