isolate

Has anyone had much luck with this spell? I've not got a chance to use it much, but in one fight against a moderately decked opponent I tried to cast it about 10 times and it always failed. With such a high mana cost is this spell useful or was my opponents saves too good? BTW the spell is mastered.

I never had much luck with it.

As I understand, you'll likely have better luck trying to use it on the charmies rather than the player (fewer saves to fight against).

I suppose that would made since unless the saves were still against the owner.

I'm pretty sure Pali is correct. Though it's been a long time since I was a cleric and I was pretty newbish...

I did eventually land isolate against PCs but it was more rare. Never tried against mobs but the code does not check the master's saves, it checks the mobs saves.

Isolate is a Mental/Charm spell that Nukes one followers from a PC, based on PC mental saves.

If you cast on the Player, it nukes a random charmie.

If you cast on a charmie it nukes that particular charmie.

If the selected charmie is immune to charm it will flail.

The spell does not saves on the Mob, but on the owner. So if the Necromancer/Ranger/DK has good mental saves it will be hard to isolate him.

But not impossible.

Nothing ruins a Necro day like isolating one of his Travens.

Ya know, even if Mya was 100% right, I would be insanely hesitant to listen to her.

I'll tell you now, Isolate is almost 50% more likely to work on a charmie then the actual character. However I have also found that successful isolates on a character can also lead to ALL mobs following to be disbanded, dontk now if this has been changed, but my cleric was alive like... 3 years ago lol.
