Locked Different races being shamans

I have heard some rumours that drow shamans at 50 cast mals at lower lever compared to human/duerg/undead shamans at 50 and this has been done as drow shamans are "overpowered".

I was never aware of such change, but I myself have expirienced higher difficulties landing mals as drow compared to landing mals as duergar for example, which basicly gives me reason to believe those rumours.

Now I would appreciate an official reply from the staff concerning this topic.

PS. Please don't come with the "qclasses spell/skills are not to be talked about" answer. I am asking a simple question which can be answer with a simple "yes" or "no", besides I do not see how my question is discussing their skills/spells.

I thought the rule was not to discuss specifics of the code - this sounds like something that would be considered such.

Well the yes or no should be okay, because that could be important info to newer players looking to play a shaman (I know, I'm one of those people whose first major pinn was a shaman) I think going into the specifics of what it is cast at for one vs the other would be the big problem of code discussion. But I'll let the imms decide before I say anything.

I don't see how discussing this is any worse than discussing whether shield block is better than parry. I've played a duergar and a drow and noticed no difference, plus that would be a pretty sneaky change by the staff to throw in without telling ANYBODY. I'd like to think they wouldn't do that.

The biggest thing you're probably experiencing is the fact that there are some rare items out there that boost your casting level. Smart shamans find these and use them - so ask around and find out what they are, and soon you can be a pwnz0r shaman too.

actually, i never used those things..I pked mostly in a suit of average "general realm" rares.

most people who say they cant land mals aren't being patient enough and using the anti-saves spells at their disposal.

A shaman with a shield and a toothpick can kill quite easily.

i would disagree with the shield/toothpick opinion, although in your case Kyz as someone who moves expertly and is a very competent PKer it's true i'm sure.

-however to someone who is not as good a mover and PKer- they will very likely find their shaman getting beat down way too fast by damage output vs a good zerk or monk, even warrior if they are relatively decked and your shaman is dressed like crap. and that isn't saying your shaman has to be uB3r-su1t3d or anything, just don't expect your 1st time shaman to be wearing tainted wielding a miniscule flail and a crumbling shield and fare well against a high damage output opponent.

Shamans are great, but I think they need to be equipped a little bit. Since you spend so many rounds in combat, high AC is important, and high aff saves if you want to beat casters. However I don't think you need a whole lot of hp/mana boosting gear to do well.

Ok from what I've noticed over the past couple people I've killed is that they are wearing gear that's giving them at the very least 60 mal saves.

And when there arent as many shamans around there arent as many people wearing saves only gear, so because there are so many...everyone prepares for them. Which makes it harder for any shaman to kill them. Like when you have 20 vokers running around, everyone scrambles for aff saves.

Just my observations. Take em with a grain of salt.

As a drow shaman with autosneak and fly you can literally hit with one spell and keep an opponent on their toes enough to truly kill them by attrition. Depending on your oponents class and saves you can EASILY shut them down. Certain spells if put in order by priority can shut down any melee without the key saves.

Also being able to know your opponents level of preperation can buy you all kinds of time, co loc gyvel anyone?

60 mal saves isn't easy to get.

But it isn't that hard to. Of course Hit/Dam are going to take a dive.

I normaly try to get Max mal saves, because i like long drawn out fights.

And most of the Killer spells are Maledictions.

-Curse

-Blind

-Plague

-Blasphemy

Now you dont need 60 mental, most people does not bothers past 3 dispels.

With casters/communers I would go all the way for saves (in no particular order, dispel magic, curse and path can all be pretty nasty) and hp/mana. 60 mal is pretty sweet, highest I had was around 100ish. That made me immune to shamans.

When I played a drow shaman, I killed a few people. They are a bit overpowered.

I think it far more likely that your skill is in question rather than game mechanics.
