Consumables Tips/Suggestions

I don't know how you pure melee's do it.

Tons of consumables, which cost money.

Tons of money for said consumables.

Rinse and repeat if killed and looted, or if blackjack and looted.

I seem to always run out at the most inopportune times, and or get my arse handed to me when i finally have what i think i need.

Any secrets, tips, suggestions that anyone would like to throw out there??

An obvious one - but keep consumables in a closed container, and set alias' to open container, get xxx container, Quaff/eat/drink xxx, close container.

Oh and I find it best not to go on runs for consumables, but just to get them as passing, that way they're don't have similar lifespans and all start running out in the same few hours.

Money is easy to come by, if you know which mobs carry the most gold for the time spent to kill them. Also, do you guild quests, they offer nice change for easy time spent.

Edit: Jim and Sam is Ofcol offer nice change, are in a place I rarely see people and are fairly easy to kill 25+.

Edit2: I miss the Illithid larvae. They were real cash cows.

there really should be a mob in the forest or something that preserves herbs for you. also that mob could perform a Know Alignment on another PC, just for fun. (suggested this before) besides if anyone needs preserved herbs it's melees, and why have to rely on some preserve-skill PC to sell you any; if you're a melee you really have no time to hope for that.

establish a route for gathring, and run this route when your idle.

I dunno what you are buying with gold, but I've played a lot of melees and I've never had any consumables that I paid for. The only thing you might pay for is flight, everything else you should just be collecting.

And yes, don't go on consumable "runs". Those are utterly boring and not that effective anyways. Just pick things up when you go by different places. Consumables are scattered all over.

Hehe, my favorite way to gather consumables is to kill someone and take theirs

Gotta love dropping someone, taking their backpack, and finding two dozen vials/gyvels in it...

well depending on what melee but one thing I used to do was get a locker and put the ones that I get there as backup (in a closed conatianer). That way if I die I can get some easily. You can hold up to 50 items there so at least you have easy access.

That's what I normally do. Hold about 5-10 of each buff, stuff the rest in a locker for after death/emergencies.

Why's a closed container matter versus an open one?

I believe it doesn't go bad as fast.

Also, that esuna item that i know of hasnt been there in forever.

Other than that, you have to buy plague cures, poison cures.. Am i wrong, there are things laying around to cure those mals?

dont know any on the top of my head, and you are correct that if the container is open it goes bad faster.

Most melees don't carry around cures for plague and poison. There aren't really reliable sources for either out there. Melees are a different mindset than healers/communers. Its not really about healing everything and then going on. Its more about killing your opponent before you are worn down by mals (or else running away and resting if you can't).

Zaheva used to carry them all the time from what I remember. Cures that is.

You are probably thinking of when he was in Warmaster, which is a different story.

That's not true. There is at least one good source of cure plague and one good source of cure poison out there for that is usable by anyone.

Yeah, I seem to recall Kyatha (The fairly recent Ogre Warrior Nexus, or is that the WM? Memory has gone...it's the Nexus one I'm talking about) used to carry quite the supply of them, unless I'm getting something mixed up.

Dey

Kyatha or Askarran, one of the two.

scratches his head Why have I never found these things?
