This is a pretty noob question I know, but is there any purpose in dual wielding as a blademaster other than the ability to use the dual wield stances?

Left, right, middle i think... that may aid with disarming weapons. But im a noob on BLM.
ummm try looking through the help files of your skills, when you move up the ranks there's quite a few skills that require use of two weapons/dual wielding. If it's okay to reveal the skills (even though blm isn't a quest class) I would be happy to do so.
Ever heard of predict/twin counter?
I know there are skills that depend on having two weapons, I think I stated that pretty explicitly. I'm just wondering if I'm missing something regarding the actual efficiency of combat with 2 weapons vs 1, like, perhaps a hit/dam bonus for the blademaster when dual wielding.
Outside of being able to use some of the more nasty stances(in my opinion the most useful stance against most melees and the most useful stance against communers both are dual wielding stances), predict, twin counter, powerstrike (which is disgusting), dual parry (which definately could affect skills you may acquire later in life), and footwork...you can use one handed weapons and not lose a defense. In my opinion, while there are numerous sick two handed weapons...there are just as many if not more disgusting one handed weapons, a particular exotic foremost in my mind. There isn't a special bonus for using two weapons, other than you gain the effects of both weapons...adding the potential for higher hit/dam and scary affects. Footwork also allows you to select which damage type you will use, while retaining the order you will be disarmed (extremely key).

That's true, I wasn't even thinking of powerstrike. Well, like I said, it was a noob question, but thanks for clearing it up since I know basically nothing about blademasters.
