ranger pets

As a beastmaster ranger, whats the best third pet you can get?

also can you have three pets and a cabal pet?

1 Depends. Experiment, and see what you like best yourself.

  1. Yes.

Can you please post the Newbie Questions on the Newbie part of the Forum ?

Dont play rangers, cant answer you.

Uhhh, the third pet from what I have seen is always a raven.

I have never seen a beastmaster ranger with his 3 pets and a cabal pet.

how is a raven supposed to be a tradeoff with the stuff archers and trackers get??? thats horrible.

Considering that Most classes can recite a single scrolls and be immune to ranged weapons, then a simple Raven is better than nothing.

Don't rangers get 3 things per path ? If the extra pet is one of them, what are the others ?

Group concealment (how do you spell that? =) and group herb I think.

Extra pet, group herb, pack call, horn of nature

Also the pets they summon are higher level, lvl 51 at 50.

Some of the stuff a lvl 51 pet does can be scary.

group concealment is for trackers.

also i know rangers can summon a range of pets, some basic ones are...

raven,leopard,displacer beast and mammoth.

Do you have to be in a specific area to get the other ones, because when i try to call them they usually aren't around.

Different areas do affect ease of calling on different creatures.

And do a help mind link, the raven isn't totally useless.

What is horn of Nature ?

You can call pets anywhere.

What is horn of Nature ?

help "horn of nature" gives a pretty good description.

Frankly, these are all ranger path skills, very similar to speaking about warrior select skills, and other taboo stuff. However, since so much has been divulged about rangers during my time in fl, I will tell you my opinions and experience.

Beastmaster is good because you are allowed to call on beasts anywhere, be it city, mountain, or sea. You also get the pack call skill which is extremely helpful when you are in cabal warfare. The third beast is not really something I appreciated, mainly because ANY ranger can have three pets if he is in certain cabals. In addition to all of this, a beastmaster will stronger pets than other ranger path beasts.

So, it really depends on what you want to play. A beastmaster is for those who like to brute force there way around with three good pets.

A tracker is for those players that know how to utilize every aspect of their class in order to dominate their opponents(As much as I hate to give him credit, Triathix proves this). The tracker is also good for those players that don't want their pets giving their positions away during battle. The doublesheath skill is also an essential bonus.

The archer is for those that like to whittle their opponents down from afar. Great for beginning ranger players. But always remember that your arrows aren't all you need to win a pk battle.

I hope this helps.

seems like either beastmaster or archery would be for the classes that need that extra offense boost like elf/halfling, and Tracker would be for those classes who need the extra finese like stone/ogre.

Triathix does not tracks, he peers into the future and know where you will be before you even decide to go there. He then proceeds to follow the tracks so that you look normal.

If you ever get bored, get a thief/ninja and go play submarine hunt with him.

I doubt you will win.

Actually, I think beastmaster fits any race, since any ranger benefits from the increased level. But in my opinion, beastmaster is about playing a ranger as you normally would, but with bonuses.

**Beastmaster: **

**Availability: **For every race.

Played about 1500 hours on beastmasters. I found them lacking compared to the other classes. Whilst stalk with a raven is nice it is nothing compared to just dropping the beast and having a cabal pet.

Archer:

Availability: For the Weaker Races

Played about 900 hours on Archers and I would have to say that this is the best choice for smaller races with low str. This is because carrying all those extra things you need to throw with a Tracker can all begin to add up when your str is very low. Arrows weigh next to nothing and whilst they can be made useless, they still have the possibilty to hamper and hit a wide range of vulns.

Tracker:

Availability: The higher strength races.

I have about 600 hours experience on a tracker and I have to say that having high STR is absolutely essential, especially if you are planning on carrying a couple of heavy shields or weapons to throw at your opponent. having to lug that around with a low STR race becomes completely impossible when you have to carry orbs of recall/flight and glimmering staffs not to mention your weapons you need to survive.
